Religious Beliefs And The Bible
Religious beliefs have been around for almost as long as man himself, emphasizing the importance
of existential meaning. These beliefs hold very important values that are often neglected by many.
Almost every religion teaches the overall importance of morality, defining the need for one to
protect themselves and others from the dangers that are present in the world. However, many
religions have conflicting views on the ideals that are not related to morality. For example, Judaism
teaches that the Messiah, or Son of God, has yet to arrive on Earth, while Christianityteaches that
the Messiah had already appeared as Jesus Christ, and they are awaiting the Second Coming. This
is a very contradictory aspect of either faith, and would be expected to cause much rage between the
two faiths. Yet, this anger has been subsided through the very similar teachings of both religions.
Both Judaism and Christianity have sacred text known as the Ten Commandments, which are
religious laws emphasizing the importance of morality and, of course, faith. Through this book, I
will be identifying the various world religions and ideals, from Judaism to Hinduism to Satanism,
and expanding upon the various factors that make these religions unique. These factors include,
what each religionhas to offer, what the differences are among religions, and what each teaches.
However, the primary focus of this book is to emphasize that the continuing arguments among
religious groups are absolutely unnecessary,

The Controversy Of Dental Amalgam
Is it silver filling or dental amalgam? Most people call it silver fillings, while the dentist calls it
dental amalgam. Dental amalgam was developed in France in the 1800 s (Gladwin Bagby, 2013).
In 1833, dental amalgam was introduced to the United States, which started the controversy
immediately (Gladwin Bagby, 2013). People went back and forth debating whether or not dental
amalgam was safe or not. Many people do not realize that dental amalgam has been used for over
150 years and is one of the oldest materials in the oral health care ( Dental Amalgam , 1993). Dental
amalgam contains a mixture of metals such as silver, which is the largest of filling and adds great
strength to the amalgam, tin and copper, which also contribute to strengthening the compound, as
well as mercury, which makes these components into a hard, stable, and safe substance that in
amounts of up to 50 percent by weight(ADA.org, 2009).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some say yes and some say no, which is one of the controversy of amalgam. Mercury being toxic
and considering that fillings are subjected to tooth pressure, wear factors and leaking risks, the
possibility of mercury leaking into tooth sockets and poisoning patients had to be taken into
consideration. Mercury poisoning depends on the patients age, build, gender, bone strength, blood
regulation, and eating habits (ADA.org, 2009). So, as we can tell mercury is one of the
disadvantages to dental amalgam. Other disadvantages include poor esthetic qualities, marginal
breakdown, and long term corrosion leading to replacement ( Dental Amalgam ,

The Department Of Homeland Security
Recommendations: The Department of Homeland Security do have grants available for its
programs, however there is a need to know where the grants need to be channel to, for better
productivity. As recommendation, there is a need to continue encouraging forums where
intergovernmental agencies and the citizens can frequently have an open discussion such as media
chats and possible quarterly live Television programs, there should be a day or a week in the year
dedicated to Human Trafficking. Also a monthly magazine would be a good idea to collaborate into
the awareness effort. September 2013, the Senate committee on Homeland Security and
Government Affairs under the chairmanship of Senator Thomas Carper organized
intergovernmental relations and interagency hearing titled, Combating Human Trafficking: Federal,
State and Local Perspective . This hearing brought together State Judge, Civil Right Attorney,
School Teacher, Women advocacy activist, experts in various agencies to talk about how they are
working on human trafficking at their different governmental level. The most importantly was to
create awareness about the Blue Campaign on Human Trafficking. Engaging with all levels of
government is a priority for the Blue Campaign. The Blue Campaign is pursuing partnerships with
national associations representing state, local, tribal and territorial elected and appointed officials.
In July 2013, DHS entered into a partnership agreement with the National Association of Counties

My Major At Nicholls State University
SELF EXPLORATION
My major at Nicholls State University is Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science;
however, I plan to transfer to University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue a degree in Physics.
The process in which one would solve a problem has always appealed to me. In math, specifically
calculus, derivatives tell me how the original function acts and integrals tell me the relevance of the
original function to the x axis. Using a simple formula to find the answer to a seemingly impossible
problem that involves numbers that geniuses have discovered centuries ago is the most amazing
thing one could possibly do, in my opinion. Also, upon taking my computer science course, I have
learned how to write certain scripts. Writing these scripts has taught me of a connection between
the person and the computer; sort of like a collaboration.
Ten years from now, I can see myself finally being self sufficient; drinking tea in my own
apartment while watching TV and petting my kitty cat. Career wise, I want to work in an office
probably creating a new way to solve some sort of problem. I could see myself in the
astrophysics, computer science, or mathematics field. When I was younger, my dad and I would
this game, Space Girl, in which I would run around the house or outer space and I would jump on
his back and flip over his head or, land on earth. That s when I knew I wanted to work in an area
that involved space and aeronautics. When I was in Catholic

Essay on Effective Communication Case Study
Effective Communication Case Study Analysis Communication can be defined as the act of
transmitting information. Effective communication is a two way process. Information that flows
back and forth between sender and receiver is considered effective (Clark 2003). For example, an
organization communicates to their publics and then begins to look for feedback from their
customers to ensure that everyone understands the message. Sometimes the feedback is not verbal
and organizations can only measure the effectiveness by analyzing consumers actions (Clark 2003).
Some companies have a great understanding of their customers and excel with effective
communication. One such company is Johnson Johnson. The purpose of this paper is to present a...

The company started by sending out a nationwide alert to all doctors and all distributors (Bell,
n.d.). The company then issued a massive recall of 31 million bottles of Tylenol (Bell, n.d.).
Johnson Johnson issued the recall even after the company found out that the products were
tampered with after the bottles reached the stores (Bell, n.d.). According to Albert Tortorella,
Manager of the firm that advised Johnson Johnson, Before 1982, nobody ever recalled anything
(Rehak, 2002). This PR tactic showed the public that the company was ethically motivated to
protect the people at any cost. The decision is estimated to have cost the company over $100
Million (Rehak, 2002). However, the benefit to the company was consumer trust. Upon the return
to the market, the PR department issued coupons for $2.50 to get consumers to buy the new
product (Susi, 2002). They also introduced a lower pricing plan to attract buyers to their product
(Susi, 2002). To inform the public about the crisis Johnson Johnson was not alone. Local police in
the Chicago are drove around through neighborhoods announcing the danger of the pain medicine
and informed everyone that was present of the recall (Bell, n.d.). An objective third party kept the
public informed about the crisis. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) helped Johnson
Johnson calm the public by holding several press conferences (Center and Jackson, 2003). Not to
mention the news media captured every quote from

Compare the Endings in Two Different Theatre of the Absurd...
Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett are two of the biggest exponents of The Theatre of the Absurd.
Both of their works present a world which cannot be logically explained, where the scenery, the
language and the actions of the characters are almost incomprehensible and do not comply with
the previously accepted norms of theatre. J.L Styan writes about Pinter. His audience is made to
feel, through an exquisite friction of nightmare and normality, the earthly need for security (The
Dark Comedy) I think this quote applies to Beckett too, however. Both of the plays I will look at
are very sinister, subversive plays, riddled with dark humour. What is important to remember is
that the plays are not just absurd for the sake of being... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stanley, is a grumpy, ungrateful character, I think Pinter tries to encourage an instant dislike of
him in the reader. The conversations are short throughout the section until the arrival of Goldberg
and McCann, we don t find out a lot about anyone. From events in the lives of the characters to
their motives and emotions e.g. we are given no reason for Stanley s breakdown when they are
playing blind mans buff, all we can assume is that it is the work of Goldberg and Mccann that has
caused him to behave in this way. Pinter refuses to provide rational explanations for his characters
(www.imagi nation.com) It is this deliberate withholding of information that adds to the sense of
mystery and absurdity, doom and uncertainty. This is how Pinter builds up the sense of tension
because, often, the reader assumes something worse than what is the actual reality in the play. The
use of language helps to build the sense of tension in another way too; we see characters controlling
the situation

The Existence Of Crop Circles
Crop circles are strange shapes in crops that people believed where UFOs landed, or the work of
Earth s Power. There are many theories on the circles, but the only proven explanation is humans.
Crop circles are patterns that appear in fields. These crop circles are normally made by
flattening any crop. The most commonly flattened crop is cereal, but the crops have varied from
tobacco, wheat, barley, rice paddies, or even wild grass. Crop circles have happened so recently,
that they have become an everyday thing. There really isn t a true answer who made them. The
first reporting of a crop circle was in a small town near Tully, Australia. In 1966, a farmer claimed
to see a saucer lift up from that area and leave strange circles of flattened ... Show more content on

They claimed that they did most, but inspired other copycat pranks. While that ended some
theories people had, others didn t believe them. Crop circles have become more elaborate over
the years, so it s easy to tell hoaxers are getting better at their craft. Crop circles have come from
a mystic mystery, to an art. People are now being hired to make crop circles as advertisements
for big corporations, and get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. It seems to be researchers
have stopped pondering why they are here and accepted them as the work of art they are. Crop
circles will most likely continue to pop up, and so will different theories. Although there are
some reasonable theories, many people will simply believe their idea on how crop circles are made.
One thing is for sure; they will be an art for years to

The appraisal of all these 10 articles led to identification of the three primary themes: a) positive
findings, b) mixed findings, and c) barriers associated with implementing life style modifications in
the treatment of hypertension.
Positive Findings The literature published since 2010 indicates that the lifestyle modification can
be used as an alternative to pharmacotherapy in the treatment of hypertension. Authors of the nine
articles of ten articles utilized for this study has concluded that lifestyle changes, which mainly
includes physical activity and dietary changes is very effective in the management of hypertension.
Randomized Control Trials This study utilized 6 RCT s selected from various databases. The
study conducted by (Hinderliter et al., 2013) concluded that changes in dietary habits, weight
and blood pressure persist for 8 months after completion of the 16th week ENCORE program
with some attenuation of the benefits. The ENCORE study was done with 144 overweight
individuals with hypertension, randomized to 16 weeks intervention, which includes behavioral
weight management and DASH diet and DASH diet alone. Follow up assessments were done
after 8 months of the end of the treatment and the systolic blood pressure at the end of 16 weeks
was found to be reduced by 16.1 (95% confidence interval CI = 13.0 19.2) mmhg with DASH WM

Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Popular Mechanics
Communication is key, is a statement that people hear more than once in their lifetime. Whether
they choose to understand it or not, it s something that they will always hear. But if
communication is really key why do people choose to hide away the key and keep their door
locked? Every relationship has it up and downs. There is no couple who can say that their
relationship is perfect, everyone runs into a few bumps in the road. It seems like they only want
sunshine and rainbows in a relationship and don t want to endure the storms that may come along.
People just have to hang in there and learn how work through their issues. In Raymond Carver s
Popular Mechanics , the social issue of communicationin relationships is brought up.
Communication is important in relationships because it is the key to success. Poor communication
can bring up many issues in a relationship like unnecessary arguments, unhappiness and in worse
case scenarios separation. It s shocking to see people who actually believe that they can solve
their problems by avoiding them. If he or she doesn t speak up and tell their significant other that
something is bothering them or that they are hurt or upset then how are they supposed it fix it?
People are quick to say that their partner should know when something is wrong, but they have to
remember that nobody is a mind reader. The art of a relationship requires communication. That
means that people have to learn to express what is going on in their hearts

Origins of the Second World War in Europe
To uncover the origins of the Second World War is a difficult task and to summarize it, even
more so, but this is exactly what historian P.M.H. Bell does in his astounding book The Origins
of the Second World War in Europe. Although Bell does a great job of providing accounts on
both sides of the debate on the origins of the Second World War, he does have his own mindset
about it. In his eyes, Bell sees the Second World War as being a thirty year war, driven by the
ideology and economics of Germany, which was not preplanned by blueprint. He outlines this very
clearly in the conclusion of his book, basing it on knowledge that he interlaid throughout.
Bell begins this read by illustrating the theory of the thirty years war. This, ... Show more content on

While Hitler wasn t interested in conquering the mighty USSR from the start, he did for see an
eventual war with her for her abundant resources16. Thus, the clash that the two countries had in
1941 was long coming, but not a surprise.
Living space then, was a necessary objective in Hitler s eyes, but in order to achieve this space he
needed to develop Germany s army first. So he did. Between 1933 and 1939 the Treaty of Versailles
was secretly avoided to massively increase the size of the German army, from 100,000 to
300,00017. The Luftwaffe, German air force, also rapidly increased and by 1940 it was the
strongest among all the European powers. The German war machine was impressive, in just six
years it went from being the weakest army to one of the strongest18. However, this created a
vicious circle in terms of foreign policy for Germany: Hitler wanted living space, so he built up
the army. However, in order to pay for this rapid rearmament, he had to conquer territories. Thus,
Hitler made war profitable and a key part of the foreign policy of Germany19.
To sum up, Hitler s Germany lived on a balanced diet of economics and ideology. On the one
hand, Hitler s ideology called for living space for his great Aryan race. However, on the other
hand, economics were the backbone of building an army large enough to acquire it. This resulted in
Hitler conquering many new lands for his cause. First there was

Analysis Of Phaedo By Socrates
In Phaedo by Plato, Socrates gives an account of what Beauty is. Socrates states if there is anything
beautiful besides the Beautiful itself, it is beautiful for no other reason than that it shares in that
Beautiful (Phaedo 100c). From this statement, one can assume that Socrates believes in one true
Beautiful, just as he believes in one true Good that are included in the one true Knowledge. To find
true Knowledge the body and soul must be separated which can be inferred that true Knowledge
and it s full understanding will only happen after death. Socratesbelieved that you could only

Analysis Of Dirtwork In EuripidesThe Bacchae

Dirtwork in Euripides The Bacchae
The Bacchae represent the irrational aspects of religion, and this is neither simply reverent or
irreverent toward religion. The play, The Bacchae can easily be interpreted as a cautionary tale
about the dangers of neglecting worship or as a cautionary tale about the dangers of placing too
much trust in human rationality. If the play s main intent was to describe the dangers of neglecting
worship or to describe the dangers of relying heavily of human rationality, then Bacchae would not
be portrayed negatively. I will argue that these interpretations, while true to some degree, are
oversimplifications of the message that Euripides conveys, and that a stronger interpretation is that
the play is commentary on the human struggle to harmonize our desire to individuate and our
desire to unify. The play describes the conflict between Pentheus need to define boundaries and the
Bacchae s desire to eliminate boundaries. Pentheus and the
Bacchae show what occurs when one desire overpowers the other. The conflict between
Pentheus and the Bacchae is an external representation of the internal conflict between the two
needs, that we observe in characters like Pentheus.
The Bacchae represent an irrational aspect of religion because they are portrayed as victims of
groupthink. The Bacchae do not think for themselves, and reject the idea of thinking for
themselves. This is shown here when the Bacchae chorus sings, A tongue

finding neverland movie review Essay
Analysis of Roger Ebert s Finding Neverland Film Review
Finding Neverland is a recently released motion picture starring acclaimed actors Johnny Depp
and Kate Winslet, and directed by Marc Forster ( quot;Monsters Ball ) Personally, I loved the movie
and It was hard to find a critic that gave the movie a negative review, so I stopped trying to find
someone to argue with and I came across the king of all critics, Roger Ebert. I usually don t agree
with his reviews, so I figured we would clash on this one, but surprisingly we came to agree on
many aspects.

And then think of his work in quot;Secret Window quot; (2004), the Stephen King story about the
author caught in a nightmare, and his demented CIA agent in quot;Once Upon a Time in Mexico
quot; (2003), and wait until you see him in quot; The Libertine, quot; as the depraved and
shameless Earl of Rochester. He also ignores Kate Winslet s performance and the great job she did.
One thing that I noticed he didn t get into very much was the sexual side of the film. I was
glimpsing over a few other articles on the movie and a lot of reviewers made comments on how
Depps character was impotent, and had a thing for little boys. And though the film flirts with the
suggestion that Barrie s relationship with the boys may have had unsavory connotations,
something that has been much speculated upon, the evidence seems to indicate that Barrie, an
extremely short and unattractive fellow with none of the dapper attraction of the handsome Depp,
was probably impotent, and that was the source of the dissatisfaction in his marriage. Terry
Lawson, Detroit Free Press. I can see where this statement is coming from since they touch upon
the subject in the film, but the director did a good job in making sure that Depp s character was
not creepy, but yet like a child himself. And Depp plays the role with such innocence that you
would never question the fact that the boys are simply his muses and he loves that family. He
pretends to be a part of it, and it is the only thing that

RESOLUTION OF FORCES
In this experiment, we determined the resultant and equilibrant of system of forces using the
force table given and after gathering the data, we compared them with the different methods
involved. The main material we used in this experiment is called force table. It has system of
strings with varying tensions that act concurrently. It also has 4 pcs of super pulley with clamp
and 4 pcs of mass hanger which weigh 5 grams each. There is a ring in the center of the force table
that indicates if the forces are balance. We began the actual experiment by increasing differently the
mass of each hanger using the slotted mass. Afterwards, we measured the angles of the strings by
using trial and error in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We tried to fix our mistake and it was fine. We were able to fix our mistake and continue the
experiment. We had fun in balancing the force table and computing for the resultant by using
component method and polygon method. The experiment gave us a preparation on how to solve
certain situation that may happen in our lives.
V. EVALUATION
1. Why is it important for the ring to be at the center? Since the mass hangers have equal masses,
can you disregard them in the experiment? Why?
It is important for the ring to be at the center because it indicates if the forces are balance or not.
You can t disregard the ring in the experiment because it will affect the resulting value if you will
compute for the resultant of the force.
2. When a pull is applied on the ring and then released, why does it sometimes fail to return to the
center?
Sometimes the forces are close to equilibrium but are not exactly equal so a slight disturbance in
the balance will cause significant effect.
3. What is the significance of the resultant of F1, F2, and F3 to the remaining force F4? What
generalization can you make regarding their relationships?
It will act as a force that will completely neutralize F4. The force F4 and the resultant of F1, F2, F3
are exactly opposite of each other.
4. If the order of adding vectors is changed (i.e. from F1 + F2 + F3 to F2 + F1 + F3) will the
resultant be different? Why?
No, because

Abina And The Important Men Summary
Book Review of Abina and the Important Men: A Graphic History History is not static, it is ever
changing and evolving. As time goes on history changes because of new discoveries that alter the
way things have been and shed new light on what had been considered true. In Abina and the
Important Men: A Graphic History historian Trevor Getz introduces a new voice into the story of
British controlled West Africain the late nineteenth century. Getz and Liz Clarke, an illustrator,
bring forth the story of Abina, a young West African woman, who was wrongfully enslaved and
took her case to court. The book mixes history with graphic art and presents a new and interesting
at a part of history that is not very well known. Overall Getz recreates the story of Abina to show
how history is constantly adapting as more and more stories are being unearthed and heard. Abina
and the Important Men combines graphic illustrations with real history to create a contemporary
book that is both compelling and well informed. The book is split into five different sections; the

Through the graphic illustrations Abina story is described in detail. Though the story is
interesting and admirable, it seems to be exaggerated in many ways. In the book Abina is a
young woman, probably around the age of twelve, though this is implied, Getz seems to create a
strong young woman who is sure of herself and of who she is. This is not to say that the story is
invalid, but rather that Getz s own wishes for the woman Abina was carried over into his history.
As with most books, the history is biased. Throughout the first section of the book Getz s own
feelings and ideas about the story are transferred into the story of Abina. This is even more
apparent at the end of the graphic narrative where Getz himself appears, telling the reader that new
history can always be found and no voice is ever too

Thomas Mofolo’s novel Chaka Essay
According to the English author and philosopher, Edmund Burke, The greater the power, the
more dangerous the abuse. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel
Chaka. Power is a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will
become corrupted by your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel.
However, even though power is often seen as having influence over others, power can also be
distinctly self centered. Power can be expressed through controlling others, but it can also be
expressed by disabling others from controlling you. Powerlessness occurs when you lose the
determination to stop others from controlling you. Now, power is something that everyone can

However, while the powerful are portrayed as relatable, they are also portrayed as generally
unforgiving and often unmerciful characters, who usually place the value of power over the
value of humanity and relationships. Senzangakhona, the first king in this novel, wanted for his
companion s son, Dingiswayo, to be dead simply because he knew that he would serve as a
threat to the throne. He also decided to banish his son, Chaka, and his wife, Nandi, because he
knew that keeping them here would bring shame to them as well as himself, and would
endanger his kingship. However, he did face internal struggles when making the decision to do
this, which made him more humanistic. For example, On page 11, the author states that The
pain which Senzangakhona felt in his heart when he had to part with Chaka, his child, and
Nandi, his wife, was such that we are unable to describe it, for he loved them greatly. (Mofolo,
p.11) The battle between what is expected of you (in his case, to be king) and what your heart
yearns for (in his case, to be with his child and wife) is something that most people can relate to,
making him more personable. Chaka was portrayed as the most ruthless of all the kings,
murdering countless Zulus, as well as his own mother, wife, and child. In the beginning of the
novel, however, he was easy to relate to. As a young boy, he was rejected by his father, forced to

The Importance Of Charter Schools
After reading chapter eight of Spring, I believe that charter schools play a large role in our public
education system, as well as the other multiple education systems talked about in the reading such
as home schooling, or private schools. Charter schools are in fact public schools, but they might
not serve the same specific set of educational objectives that a public schoolwould have. Another
aspect of charter schools is that they have to take any state required tests. A trend also found in
charter schools is to serve primarily minority schools and low income students. The percentage of
student s eligible for free or reduced price lunch program greatly increased from 2001 to 2012.

Nomads Vs Aryans
Force: a verb, which is defined as: coercion or compulsion, especially with the use or threat of
violence. Force was a key method pastoral nomads used to overthrow settled communities during
the Nomadic Invasions and Migrations period during 2000 to 1700 B.C.E. The pastoralists and
the settled people disagreed on many things and had very different ways of living. For example,
the Aryan s, located in Northern India, were polytheistic, while the settled people believed in only
one god. Some societies disagreed on whether farming or breeding animals was most beneficial to
the prosperity of their community. Because of variance in opinion, societies couldn t live in a

In Mesopotamia, the Babylonians (another group of pastoral nomads) invaded and conquered
Sumer, following a similar method to the Aryans. They also similarly kept laws that tied the poor
and inferior to a stake. Hammurabi, one of the kings of Babylon, went on a mission to create a list
of rules for people to follow, but in order for him to be worthy of this, Hammurabi made sure he
had religious legitimacy. He did this by portraying an image of himself next to the Shamash, god
of light and prosperity, to show that he was worthy of this god s attention. Hammurabi
completely glorified himself. Furthermore, he thought of himself as fair and revolutionary,
which is why there was so much appeal to his name. Some laws that he created benefitted
society, but other laws were made to benefit the indigenous people really just kept them in their

Estate Plan Essay
The purpose of this memo is to devise a practical estate plan for our client who has maintained a
lucrative sole proprietorship conducting business in commercial real estate. The goal in our tax
planning strategies will be to legally transition a portion of the $1 billion in assets to multiple tax
saving trusts and a family limited partnership (FLP). Additionally, the client would like to begin
transferring proportional ownership of the company to his two children over the next thirty years
and sell ten percent of the company to an unrelated third party. Furthermore, these tasks need to

that amount per year to the children would trigger IRC В§ 2501 (a) (1) which will tax any

Social Costs Of Smoking Cigarettes
Introduction
The overall economic costs of smoking cigarettes has become somewhat of an epidemic in
society for a variety of reasons. It includes numerous private and social costs. The private cost to
smokers goes far beyond the price of cigarettes alone. Smokers also pay with their health, life, and
finances. Alongside the great cost to smokers, they enjoy benefits to the same degree. The total
cost of smoking not only effects smokers, but society as well. The externalities from smoking are
both negative and positive. Society bears the burden of the negative externalities, or social costs,
both physically and monetarily. The positive externalities, or social benefits, play a significant
economic role in society. The tobacco... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The average smoker s overall quality of life is jeopardized because of the health ramifications.
Many long time smokers have lower endurance than non smokers which results in frequent
shortness of breath. They are also more prone to common illnesses due to their lowered immune
system. Finally, they are at a high risk for disease and premature death. Although these costs are
high, smokers do reap some benefit by making the choice to smoke.
If the private cost of smoking to smokers is so high then why smoke? According to economic
theory, if smokers are fully informed, rational and under no duress, it can be assumed that the
benefits of smoking to them are at least equal to the costs which they themselves bear. (Collins;
Lapsley) Otherwise, they would not smoke. The benefits to the smoker are both physical and
psychological.
Cigarettes are highly addictive. Reinforcement and withdrawal are the two key factors that establish
cigarette smoking as an addictive behavior. As a learned response to consumption, reinforcement
leads smokers into becoming dependent on the rewards or benefits they reap from smoking. The
nicotine in cigarettes creates a physical dependence while the act of lighting up and smoking
creates a psychological dependence. A smoker benefits from the positive reinforcement that comes
from both the physical and psychological effects of smoking. Smokers are also influenced by

Here, Y. Denotes The Five Observed Indicators, Tau. Is
Here, y denotes the five observed indicators, au is intercept for each of the indicators, lambda is
the factor loadings, eta is latent variables and e is random measurement error for each of the
indicators. Furthermore, since this model applies effect coding by not fixing the first loading for
each factor to be 0, it is given that lambda_{1ij}+lambda_{2ij}+lambda_{3ij}=3 and
lambda_{4ij}+lambda_{5ij}=2 .
When comparing groups, the multigroup confirmatory factor analysis (MGCFA) method is applied,
thereby allowing for comparison of parameter estimates between countries. However, such

In the results section, I am going to show the different measurement invariance models.
In order to determine whether national political trust (NPT) and supranational political trust
(SPT) can be regarded as two empirically distinct concepts, it is necessary to test a one factor
model encompassing all five indicators against the proposed two factor model shown in Figure
1. When examining the MGCFA models, different methods of assessing goodness of fit is
applied. First, the raw chi squared value for the model of interest is reported. However, it has
been shown that inferences based on the raw chi squared values tend to favour problematic
models when the sample size is small and reject sensible models when the sample size is large
(Hooper et. al, 2008). In this case, where the sample size is almost 30,000, it is expected that an
increase in model complexity will lead to a significant increase in chi squared value. Second, the
Comparative Fit Index (CFI) is reported, where values above 0.95 is considered good model fit
(Hu and Bentler, 1999). When comparing competing models, Chen (2007) suggests that a decrease
in CFI of less than 0.01 is acceptable. Finally, the two absolute fit measures, namely the Root Mean
Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) and Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR)
are used for model comparison.

Timothy Findley s The Wars
Timothy Findley s The Wars portrays the effects of war on soldiers in battle, as well as the
members of family and friends that suffer from loss and insanity. As each character over the
progression of the story is exposed to change, the character s ability to adapt has a significant
correlation with their survival, those that can quickly adapt to survive can manage to get by.
Soldiers must be able to suppress the extreme stress on the battlefield. Those that cannot overcome
these challenges do not survive in war. Murder is quickly pushed out of a soldiers mind, killing

Ross s seclusion from the rest of her family. Findley writes, All she wanted was to sit in the
corner of the room and watch the door for Robert s return (Findley 69). Findley depicts the effects
on everyone in society, such as how a parent loses their child to war, and how society conforms to
the changes of war.
War is constant in human history. War is a continually reoccurring conflict over time. It spans
different locations over varying different circumstances, whereas the effects of war remain the
same. Insanity, madness, loss of innocence, seclusion, anguish, violence, and decreasing mental
health are all by products of war. Findley accurately depicts these cases through the use of his
many characters. Robert s exposure to violence leaves him in a fragile state. His behaviour can
be seen as increasingly violent and shows his decreasing mental health. This declining mental
health may be due to his lack of sleep. Sleep was dangerous. No matter what your mind said,
your body doesn t listen. Part of you always stayed awake. Nobody dreams on a battlefield. There
isn t any sleep that long (Findley 93). Highlighted throughout many examples, Robert portrays
symptoms of what is known today as Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Findley states, His temper,

The Ebola Virus
A virus is an ultramicroscopic infectious organism that, having no independent metabolic activity,
can replicate only within a cell of another host organism. A virus consists of a core of nucleic

layer surrounds it as well. The virus provides the genetic code for replication, and the host cell
provides the necessary energy and raw materials. There are more than 200 viruses that are know to

As a result, fellowship, prayer, Bible study, worship, and most importantly salvation in its purest
form can be discerned and acted upon correctly. In addition, a further understanding can be thus
gained regarding the person of Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Finally, heresies and heretical
groups or beliefs can lead God s followers astray from the truth and create an improper
understanding, and thus relationship with God. Positions past and present have, and are,
attempting to mislead Christians about the Trinity. A skewed view of the Trinity can result in a
view of God as either divinely apart from creation or simply a better version of all the best
attributes of humans. Some positions even take away from the Divinity of Jesus Christ. All of
these views severely diminish who God is and alters a proper and true relationship and worship.
It is a necessity that these errant views be exposed as a hindrance to God in order not to mislead
God s followers. Likewise a Biblically sound explanation of the Trinity is needed. As a result, a

Irish Culture in America Essay
Irish Culture in America
I.Introduction
The history of Ireland is diverse and fact is mixed with fiction. Through the years in which
Ireland had a famine, many people migrated over to the United States in order to have a better life
and gain some prosperity. When they arrived they were met with less than open arms, but rather a
whole new world of discrimination. I will be discussing the summary I have done on the
discrimination of Irish in America today, followed by my reactions, two other Irish blooded
reactions, the history, identities, and transitions, of these people of which I learned through doing
this research.

Not all the Irish drink and the stereotype is false in many cases pertaining to Irish Americans.
Another value of the Irish is uncertainty avoidance, which concerns the degree to which people
who feel threatened by ambiguous situations respond by avoiding them (Martin Nakayama, 2000,
70). This leads the Irish to prefer to reduce rules, accept dissent, and take risks (Martin Nakayama,
2000, 70). This can be supported by the massive immigration to the United States during the Potato
Famine. Many Irish took to the seas during this period, and it was a great risk for so many to
cross a sea and enter a world new to them, breaking away from the British power that controlled
their lives. This emigration also demonstrates a sense of free will, which encompasses the need
for change and to continue trying even if you fail. I noticed that the Irish are perceived as a group
that works hard for what it wants and doesn t seem to give in to the norms of society. The new
vision of Irish immigrants seems to be much healthier than that of previous generalizations. The
action and doing value, which is entangled in the values, seems to be present in the lives of Irish
immigrants, The young Irish coming over here today are much more sophisticated, more educated,
and more ambitious (Krim Early, 1995, p.33). There is a definite sense of the contact hypothesis in

Volunteering At The Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home Essay
Volunteering at the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home over the summer was an invaluable
experience. As I became more comfortable, I began extending my duties beyond physical tasks
such as serving food or transporting residents. I started interacting with the residents on a more
personal level, not as a volunteer, but more as a friend. In return, the residents became
increasingly open, and the nurses watched as I conversed with residents they had deemed as
reserved. Sometimes when I helped residents they would say nothing, but at the same time they
said everything I needed to hear. I probably appreciated helping those residents, more than they
appreciated me. Every night when I went to bed, I felt I had actually made a difference. This
volunteering experience allowed me to realize that whatever I do in life, I want to go to sleep
feeling the same way I did that summer. In a world filled with problems, why be an observer? I
approach life with this mentality and for that reason am enticed by the problem solving and critical
thinking abilities that engineers possess. More specifically, I am drawn towards bioengineering due
to the influence that this area of study has on the medical field, and on the overall quality of life
and health for humans. While the study of medicine can provide the ability to treat individuals,
bioengineering can have a more universal impact, providing the ability to treat thousands with
innovative medical technology. As a student who greatly values

Choler Waterborne Diarrheal Disease
Public Health Problem
Cholera is a waterborne diarrheal disease that can be severely detrimental to a person s health if
not treated properly. According to the World Health Organization, cholera is a bacterial disease that
originated in India in the 19th century, with seven pandemics spreading around the globe and
killing millions of people.1 The current pandemic is still around, and cholera in present times is
estimated to affect anywhere from 1.4 to 4.3 million children and adults every year.1 The disease is
especially rampant during the rainy season, when the climate is wet and the bacteria spread easily.2

It can be as simple as obtaining the proper tools and medications to treat the portion of the
community that has contracted cholera and making sure that they are cared for in a clean, hygienic
area. Though cholera is indeed a dangerous and potentially deadly illness, the treatment for it is
rather straightforward and basic. Patients that are affected simply need to replenish the water and
nutrients that they lose when they are going through symptoms of cholera such as diarrhea and
dehydration.7 This can be accomplished through the use of oral rehydration solutions, usually a
mixture of salts and fluids.7 In serious cases where the cholera disease has caused severe
dehydration, patients may need to have their fluids replaced intravenously.1,7 Another relatively
simple option for treatment of cholera is antibiotic therapy involving tetracycline, which can cause
the length of the illness to be reduced and then decrease the need for oral rehydration therapy.8
Essentially, it all comes down to the government taking affirmative action to go to the source of the
problem and keep it from spreading. In developed and industrialized countries, cholera is nearly non
existent and this is because there are high standard levels for clean water requirements and overall
sanitation.4 The World Health Organization has implemented a Global Task Force on Cholera
Control through which it attempts to monitor, control, and prevent future cases of cholera around
the world.1 One of the best examples of successful elimination of cholera is the United States,
where the last major outbreak of cholera occurred in 1911.9 Following the outbreak, the United
States government implemented several public health policies that centered around stricter
sanitation and hygiene practices and advancing water purification techniques in order to

Marks Spencer is one of the best well known British department stores. It was founded by Michael

programme that trains suppliers with their rights, as well as support some disadvantaged supply
chain workers. With the help of Plan A, M S has established a good relationship with their
suppliers and also earn them a place of high rated ethical trading company.
Maintaining good relationship with the suppliers is very important. If one of the suppliers
suddenly refuses to supply material to M S, they can find another suppliers immediately. Therefore
M S has never failed on the supply of materials.

M S mainly target the consumer market rather than business and government market. The objective
of M S is not only maximizing their profit, but also increase customer satisfaction and their loyalty.
M S target their customers on the upper class of the society that means people with higher income,
and also healthy eaters in the society. Their target customers mostly aim at improving their quality
of lives, concerning about the product quality rather than prices. So M S devote their effort on
improving the quality of their products so as to increase customer s satisfaction. According to
Baber Smith, M S have seen as producing good quality products with good values (Baber Smith,

Ore-Ida Tater Tot Analysis
What is so Special about Ore Ida Tater Tots? There are many techniques that advertisers use in
the creation of advertisements in order to catch people s attention and spark their interest in a

world. In 2011 and 2012, she secretly wrote articles for the British Broadcasting Corporation
detailing life in an area which was constantly a daily battle between the Taliban and the Pakistani
army, specifically how difficult life was for women just to get education because of the Taliban.
The New York Times saw the stories and were given permission by the British Broadcasting

offered and ordered a military medical evacuation of Malala from Pakistan to the United Kingdom,
so she can receive proper medical treatment for her injuries. The United Arab Emirates also helped
by clearing their runway at Dubai Airport and invited the British convoy to a priority landing there,
so they could refuel fully for a quicker home journey. When she fully recovered, the Taliban said
that they would still target her until they were successful. So, the British government offered her

Honors American Literature

Junior Paper
From the 1970s through the 1990s, for the first time in America, a significant generational gap,
followed closely by a second. As each generation sought to further its own interests, rifts developed
between the old and the new as their goals diverged. As a result, there would be significant
opposition between the generations to an extent not seen before. The first of these struggles would
occur between those of the Greatest Generation, also known as the G.I. Generation, commonly
classified as those born prior to World War I, and the Baby Boomers, who were born after World
War II. This would not be the last of its kind, though. Afterward the Boomers again came into
conflict, this time with their successors, Generation X, also known as Thirteeners, the thirteenth
generation of Americans to be born since the nation s founding. David Guterson s novel The Other
is the autobiographical account of fictional Neil Countryman, a recently retired high school English
teacher and aspiring writer who, in the frame of the story, is the true writer of this book; in his
youth, Countryman had befriended the eccentric John William Barry, the precocious son of an
affluent family. Growing up in the 70s, on the borderline between the late Baby Boomers and the
first of Generation X, the two feel the influences of both generational conflicts. Countryman details
how his own life intersects with John William s throughout

The Book Of Genesis And The Theogony
A lot can be inferred about the historical cultures and societies of the Hebrews and ancient Greeks
based on Genesis and Hesiod s Theogony. The stories that these societies told have been passed
down for countless generations, and, in fact, are still well known today. The Book of Genesis and
The Theogony are both written to describe the creation of man and the Earthand who took part in
these creations. The differences between these creation stories directly reflect the cultures that they
were raised from, thus reading these stories, the audience is able to get insight into the way people
lived in these times and the structure of their society. The Book of Genesisand The Theogony were
both written in order to detail the creation of the Earth and man, and while they are similar in
those aspects, the many differences that are present in these stories offer a complex understanding
of many cultural and societal differences between the Hebrews and the Greeks. Genesis and The
Theogony both claim that the Earth started in a void, but both texts pursue completely different
stories about how the world came to be after the fact (Genesis 1:2, Boardman 18). In Genesis,
there is only one all powerful Godpresent, and this one God is responsible for the creation of both
man and the Earth. The Book of Genesis begins by stating that God created the heaven and the
earth (Genesis 1:1), and goes on to describe God s process in creating nature, and eventually, man.

Narrative Essay On Texas Chainsaw Massacre
Texas Chainsaw Massacre El Paso, Texas was a small quiet town. Anything and everything
modern like theaters and shopping malls were a long drive away and there was one high school
that everyone went to. This was where my parents were from. We visited quite frequently and
there was something unique about each visit. One visit, it was a gloomy day at my Grandma s
house and we were isolated by the muddy and wet elements outside her walls. My brother and I
were rotting with boredom and we did not hesitate to make it known to our grandma and uncle.
Filled with frustration, my uncle quickly went to his room, came back out with an old VHS
tape, turned off the lights, and popped the tape in; with an activity finally found for us to do, my
grandma went to bed. I was filled with excitement, a cozy movie night at Grandma s seemed like
the perfect thing to do on a rainy evening like this. My uncle reclined on the couch next to us and
seemed to have smirk on his face. My excitement then turned to curiosity and with this I asked,
What are we watching? My uncle replied with a grand smile on his face as he said, Texas
Chainsaw Massacre. My blood immediately went cold. I was too in shock to protest, so I just sat
on that couch and experienced the most terrifying hour and half of my life. Watching that
horrifying movie gave me a fear of my Grandma s house because her house and backyard looked
just something from the film. I also became dreadfully afraid of the dark and of course

Investigating Correlation Coefficient Of Correlation
a. I can use here z test for one sample proportion since I want to compare if there is a significant
difference between the sample proportion (i.e. PKU rates in that certain state) and the
population proportion (U.S. PKU rate distribution). Also since the sample size is sufficiently
large, then it does not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the
correlational coefficient of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho
coefficient and if it is interval or ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of
correlation. In the end I can check if the correlation is statistically significant by using the t test
for significant correlation coefficient. c. I can use here t test for dependent samples (because of
the phrase before and after ), since the same group of sample will measured twice, before a
treatment, and after a treatment. Of course, we need to check if all the assumptions are met, such
as normality, equality of variance and randomness of samples. d. I can use here Chi square test of
independence. Since we want to know if there is a relationship or difference between the college
students responses to the likert question, based on their major fields of study (nutrition, nursing,
and social work) So we want to test if the two variables are dependent or independent with one
another. Assumption of Chi square must also be checked. e. Either I can compute for the mode of

The Golden Booklet Of The True Christian Life
God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, therefore a predetermined path of righteousness
or condemnation is contradictory to the core values of Christianity, as it eliminates the need for the
will to be saved by Christ. This shows that God does not control our actions, in hopes that we live
in accordance to him.
In The Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life, author John Calvin explains that our actions do
affect our relationship with God. He says, It is God s own glory that he cannot have anything to do
with iniquity and uncleanness, (Calvin, 17). God would not be able to be with us if we lived a
complete life of inconsideration to him that would be an uncleanly life. A Christian is called to be
as much like Jesus as they possibly can. Jesus never made compromises, he didn t ever say I am the
son of God so I can live how I want. For it is unlawful for you to make a compromise with God: to
try to fulfill part of your duties and to omit others at your own pleasure, (Calvin, 22). If Jesus had
made compromises he would probably not have dies for the sins of human kind. ... Show more

This world in which all human kind lives in is distorted and filled with sin but we are called to
choose to not give in to the sin, to not conform to the work around us and prove our faith is
stronger than our sinful desires. God does not control what we choose to do, he may put
situations in ones lives that will test ones faith but the person themselves is in control of their fate
and what will come from the challenge that lies ahead. Calvin states, The Lord has still another
reason for afflicting his children: to try their patience and to teach them obedience, (Calvin, 52).
God would not try a persons patience or teach them obedience if God knew exactly what would
happen, because it is in those trials that he does not know what will

Viderunt Omnes Analysis
In this documentary, Howard details the wide range of music that has existed and how it has
evolved throughout the centuries. He reminds us how fortunate we are to have these different
genres of music readily available on the internet. He makes a point that people back then were
lucky to hear their favorite symphony at least five times in their lives. This fact made me realize
how unappreciative we have become of music. We should be taking advantage of the opportunity
to be able to experience music from different centuries and countries. Personally, I always
considered music to be a leisure activity used in order to pass time. It was interesting to find out
that during the Stone Age, music was used for serious matters. Whistles and flutes were found in...

For example, PГ©rotin was a French composer of the twelfth century who was well known for
using multiple voices and having composed extremely complex and creative chords. In his hymn
titled Viderunt Omnes you can clearly hear the layering of multiple voices. I agree with Howard
when he says this song has a jaunty rhythm and weirdly effective harmonies. Although this song
sounded strange and disorganized, it was still pleasing to listen to. The notation of the song was
intense. There was so much going on and the notes were so compact. It was impressive listening
to the choir perform such a complex song. Howard made me realize how lucky we are to be able
to have access to a variety of music. I was surprised that I was able to enjoy music from thousands
of years ago. After watching the documentary, I feel more informed about the history and evolution
of music. When looking at multiple centuries, it is becomes clearer to see that there has been a
huge progression of music and instruments. Music will undoubtedly continue to make
advancements. It will be interesting to see what kind of instruments are going to

Research Paper On Indoor Christmas Tree
It is quite common to come across a decked up Christmas tree in December.
Where did the idea of the indoor Christmas tree originate?
Several years ago, people believed that ever green trees had a magical element about them. Even
in winter, when all the other trees and were brown and bare, the evergreen tree soon became a
symbol of life and a sure sign that sunshine and spring would soon return, after the dark, cold days
of winter.
Some traditions around the tree Some believe the Christmas tree tradition was started in ancient
times by Jews who used evergreen boughs to decorate their homes during the late autumn feast of
the autumn feast of the tabernacles.some say that the Romans used ever greens to bring them good

Stroke Vs Heat Stroke
Heat Related Illnesses
Return to Play Guidelines
The two return to play guidelines I feel are most important are heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
While all are very important to learn, these two are crucial as it occurs more frequently here in
Phoenix, Arizona. After an athlete has heat exhaustion, it takes about a day to two days to recover
enough to get back into sports. During this time staying hydrated and keeping cool is imperative.
The athlete should avoid alcohol or caffeine and that only further dehydrates you. Taking breaks
from the heat as the athlete gradually goes back into sports will help getting used to the heat again
(Ehrlich, 2014). After having heat exhaustion, the athlete should be more cautious and drink past
thirst satiation because he or she will be effected more by the heat than usual. This is very
important as returning to play ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main difference is that heat stroke is much more severe and can easily lead to death. There are
two types of heat stroke, exertional heat stroke and classic heat stroke. Exertional heat stroke occurs
during physical activity generally with younger athletes while classic heat stroke can happen to
anyone who is out in the sun too long and does not have much heat resistance. Signs and symptoms
of heat stroke are a throbbing headache, dizziness, lack of sweating, red and dry skin, muscle
weakness and cramps, nausea, vomiting, tachycardia, shallow breathing, confusion, seizures, or
syncope ( Heat Stroke: Symptoms and Treatment, n.d.). In the event that heat stroke occurs,
immediately call 911, remove unnecessary clothing, dunk in an ice bath or apply ice packs and ice
towels in a similar fashion as you would for heat exhaustion ( Heat Stroke: Symptoms and
Treatment, n.d.). Even if the athletic trainer doubts if the condition if heat stroke or heat
exhaustion, dunking the athlete in an ice bath or applying cold will still be

their homes or also within the University Premises .Before to designing of the website, we need to
know that there are different type of attacks were taken place which malfunctioning the important
data through viruses. There are different kinds of web application attacks like XSS, SQL Injection
Inclusion Vulnerabilities (LFI and RFI). The main problem is web security (hacking) in network of
affected computers and that are propagating through network and server without the knowledge of
administrator. Another problem is in uploading the whole and accurate data of staff, students and
admin data from remote location. Web site works on different types of login, students and staff
only excess own user name and administrator excess the all data. In the Management system only
admin and staff member can easily upload their data including creation, modification and deletion

The United States Armed Forces Rotary Wing Aircraft
The UH 60 Black Hawk has been in service for the better part of three decades. The Army has
invested into a new program called Future Vertical Lift (FVL). This program will develop a
replacement for the United States Armed Forces rotary wing aircraft that include the UH 60
Black Hawk, AH 64 Apache, and CH 47 Chinook. The aim of the program is to develop an
airframe that will combine several roles into one aircraft, effectively cutting down costs for the
military. Many different design concepts are in in development. Companies such as Sikorsky,
Boeing, Bell, and Lockheed Martin are all building rotorcraft flight demonstrators for 2017. The
Army hopes to retire their aging aircraft with an airframe that can encompass all aspects of heavy
lift, utility, and attack into one common design at a much more affordable price. The new
helicopter should be faster, more agile, and carry more troops and cargo father than ever before
(Mizokami, 2016). The Vietnam War, the first airmobile war spawned the combat helicopter. The
Bell UH 1 Iroquoisor simply known as the Huey provided that air mobility. Primarily designed as a
medical platform it did not possess all the requirements that fulfill all the United States Armys
requirements. The military had a need for an improved and more capable aircraft to fill the shoes
of the Huey. In 1972, the Army issued a tinder for a new front line helicopter. It needed to be able
to carry 11 combat troops plus 4 crewmembers and cruise

Leadership Style Of Warren Buffet Essay
Leadership Style Warren Buffet is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Berkshire Hathaway
(http://www.berkshirehathaway.com), a holding company for several businesses (Berkshire
Hathaway, n.d.). Fortune Editors (2014) named Warren Buffett number four on The World s 50
Greatest Leaders (2014) list for his leadership techniques with his 300,000 employees. Buffett is
also a proponent for philanthropy and earmarks Berkshire Hathaway shares to distribute to several
foundations annually (Berkshire Hathaway Inc., n.d.). In 2014, Buffett led his followers with a
hands off style empowering his managers to act as owners (Fortune Editors, 2014). However,
Buffett did not begin his career with a hands off style; his leadership techniques evolved as he
became a seasoned CEO. Over time, Buffett shifts from a unilateral power to a mutual power
(Kelly, 2013). Unilateral Power Kelly (2013) segments Buffett s leadership transition into seven
stages: opportunist, diplomat, expert, achiever, individualist, strategist, and alchemist. During the
first four stages, Buffett concerned himself with growing his investment and not on the impact of
the organization s reputation, employees welfare, or community and is why this category is
unilateral power (Kelly, 2013). In the early 1960 s, his transactional leadership style tarnished his
reputation following the sale of Dempster Mill (Kelly, 2013). Dempster Mill Dempster Mill was a

  • 2. Religious Beliefs And The Bible Religious beliefs have been around for almost as long as man himself, emphasizing the importance of existential meaning. These beliefs hold very important values that are often neglected by many. Almost every religion teaches the overall importance of morality, defining the need for one to protect themselves and others from the dangers that are present in the world. However, many religions have conflicting views on the ideals that are not related to morality. For example, Judaism teaches that the Messiah, or Son of God, has yet to arrive on Earth, while Christianityteaches that the Messiah had already appeared as Jesus Christ, and they are awaiting the Second Coming. This is a very contradictory aspect of either faith, and would be expected to cause much rage between the two faiths. Yet, this anger has been subsided through the very similar teachings of both religions. Both Judaism and Christianity have sacred text known as the Ten Commandments, which are religious laws emphasizing the importance of morality and, of course, faith. Through this book, I will be identifying the various world religions and ideals, from Judaism to Hinduism to Satanism, and expanding upon the various factors that make these religions unique. These factors include, what each religionhas to offer, what the differences are among religions, and what each teaches. However, the primary focus of this book is to emphasize that the continuing arguments among religious groups are absolutely unnecessary, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Controversy Of Dental Amalgam Is it silver filling or dental amalgam? Most people call it silver fillings, while the dentist calls it dental amalgam. Dental amalgam was developed in France in the 1800 s (Gladwin Bagby, 2013). In 1833, dental amalgam was introduced to the United States, which started the controversy immediately (Gladwin Bagby, 2013). People went back and forth debating whether or not dental amalgam was safe or not. Many people do not realize that dental amalgam has been used for over 150 years and is one of the oldest materials in the oral health care ( Dental Amalgam , 1993). Dental amalgam contains a mixture of metals such as silver, which is the largest of filling and adds great strength to the amalgam, tin and copper, which also contribute to strengthening the compound, as well as mercury, which makes these components into a hard, stable, and safe substance that in amounts of up to 50 percent by weight(ADA.org, 2009).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some say yes and some say no, which is one of the controversy of amalgam. Mercury being toxic and considering that fillings are subjected to tooth pressure, wear factors and leaking risks, the possibility of mercury leaking into tooth sockets and poisoning patients had to be taken into consideration. Mercury poisoning depends on the patients age, build, gender, bone strength, blood regulation, and eating habits (ADA.org, 2009). So, as we can tell mercury is one of the disadvantages to dental amalgam. Other disadvantages include poor esthetic qualities, marginal breakdown, and long term corrosion leading to replacement ( Dental Amalgam , ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Department Of Homeland Security Recommendations: The Department of Homeland Security do have grants available for its programs, however there is a need to know where the grants need to be channel to, for better productivity. As recommendation, there is a need to continue encouraging forums where intergovernmental agencies and the citizens can frequently have an open discussion such as media chats and possible quarterly live Television programs, there should be a day or a week in the year dedicated to Human Trafficking. Also a monthly magazine would be a good idea to collaborate into the awareness effort. September 2013, the Senate committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs under the chairmanship of Senator Thomas Carper organized intergovernmental relations and interagency hearing titled, Combating Human Trafficking: Federal, State and Local Perspective . This hearing brought together State Judge, Civil Right Attorney, School Teacher, Women advocacy activist, experts in various agencies to talk about how they are working on human trafficking at their different governmental level. The most importantly was to create awareness about the Blue Campaign on Human Trafficking. Engaging with all levels of government is a priority for the Blue Campaign. The Blue Campaign is pursuing partnerships with national associations representing state, local, tribal and territorial elected and appointed officials. • 5. My Major At Nicholls State University SELF EXPLORATION My major at Nicholls State University is Mathematics with a concentration in Computer Science; however, I plan to transfer to University of Louisiana at Lafayette to pursue a degree in Physics. The process in which one would solve a problem has always appealed to me. In math, specifically calculus, derivatives tell me how the original function acts and integrals tell me the relevance of the original function to the x axis. Using a simple formula to find the answer to a seemingly impossible problem that involves numbers that geniuses have discovered centuries ago is the most amazing thing one could possibly do, in my opinion. Also, upon taking my computer science course, I have learned how to write certain scripts. Writing these scripts has taught me of a connection between the person and the computer; sort of like a collaboration. Ten years from now, I can see myself finally being self sufficient; drinking tea in my own apartment while watching TV and petting my kitty cat. Career wise, I want to work in an office probably creating a new way to solve some sort of problem. I could see myself in the astrophysics, computer science, or mathematics field. When I was younger, my dad and I would this game, Space Girl, in which I would run around the house or outer space and I would jump on his back and flip over his head or, land on earth. • 6. Essay on Effective Communication Case Study Effective Communication Case Study Analysis Communication can be defined as the act of transmitting information. Effective communication is a two way process. Information that flows back and forth between sender and receiver is considered effective (Clark 2003). For example, an organization communicates to their publics and then begins to look for feedback from their customers to ensure that everyone understands the message. Sometimes the feedback is not verbal and organizations can only measure the effectiveness by analyzing consumers actions (Clark 2003). Some companies have a great understanding of their customers and excel with effective communication. One such company is Johnson Johnson. The purpose of this paper is to present a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The company started by sending out a nationwide alert to all doctors and all distributors (Bell, n.d.). The company then issued a massive recall of 31 million bottles of Tylenol (Bell, n.d.). Johnson Johnson issued the recall even after the company found out that the products were tampered with after the bottles reached the stores (Bell, n.d.). According to Albert Tortorella, Manager of the firm that advised Johnson Johnson, Before 1982, nobody ever recalled anything (Rehak, 2002). This PR tactic showed the public that the company was ethically motivated to protect the people at any cost. The decision is estimated to have cost the company over $100 Million (Rehak, 2002). However, the benefit to the company was consumer trust. Upon the return to the market, the PR department issued coupons for $2.50 to get consumers to buy the new product (Susi, 2002). They also introduced a lower pricing plan to attract buyers to their product (Susi, 2002). To inform the public about the crisis Johnson Johnson was not alone. Local police in the Chicago are drove around through neighborhoods announcing the danger of the pain medicine and informed everyone that was present of the recall (Bell, n.d.). An objective third party kept the public informed about the crisis. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) helped Johnson Johnson calm the public by holding several press conferences (Center and Jackson, 2003). • 7. Compare the Endings in Two Different Theatre of the Absurd... Harold Pinter and Samuel Beckett are two of the biggest exponents of The Theatre of the Absurd. Both of their works present a world which cannot be logically explained, where the scenery, the language and the actions of the characters are almost incomprehensible and do not comply with the previously accepted norms of theatre. J.L Styan writes about Pinter. His audience is made to feel, through an exquisite friction of nightmare and normality, the earthly need for security (The Dark Comedy) I think this quote applies to Beckett too, however. Both of the plays I will look at are very sinister, subversive plays, riddled with dark humour. What is important to remember is that the plays are not just absurd for the sake of being... The conversations are short throughout the section until the arrival of Goldberg and McCann, we don t find out a lot about anyone. From events in the lives of the characters to their motives and emotions e.g. we are given no reason for Stanley s breakdown when they are playing blind mans buff, all we can assume is that it is the work of Goldberg and Mccann that has caused him to behave in this way. Pinter refuses to provide rational explanations for his characters (www.imagi nation.com) It is this deliberate withholding of information that adds to the sense of mystery and absurdity, doom and uncertainty. This is how Pinter builds up the sense of tension because, often, the reader assumes something worse than what is the actual reality in the play. The use of language helps to build the sense of tension in another way too; we see characters controlling the situation ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many theories on the circles, but the only proven explanation is humans. Crop circles are patterns that appear in fields. These crop circles are normally made by flattening any crop. The most commonly flattened crop is cereal, but the crops have varied from tobacco, wheat, barley, rice paddies, or even wild grass. Crop circles have happened so recently, that they have become an everyday thing. There really isn t a true answer who made them. • 10. Analysis Of Raymond Carver s Popular Mechanics Communication is key, is a statement that people hear more than once in their lifetime. Whether they choose to understand it or not, it s something that they will always hear. But if communication is really key why do people choose to hide away the key and keep their door locked? Every relationship has it up and downs. There is no couple who can say that their relationship is perfect, everyone runs into a few bumps in the road. It seems like they only want sunshine and rainbows in a relationship and don t want to endure the storms that may come along. People just have to hang in there and learn how work through their issues. In Raymond Carver s Popular Mechanics , the social issue of communicationin relationships is brought up. Communication is important in relationships because it is the key to success. Poor communication can bring up many issues in a relationship like unnecessary arguments, unhappiness and in worse case scenarios separation. It s shocking to see people who actually believe that they can solve their problems by avoiding them. If he or she doesn t speak up and tell their significant other that something is bothering them or that they are hurt or upset then how are they supposed it fix it? People are quick to say that their partner should know when something is wrong, but they have to remember that nobody is a mind reader. The art of a relationship requires communication. Bell does in his astounding book The Origins of the Second World War in Europe. Although Bell does a great job of providing accounts on both sides of the debate on the origins of the Second World War, he does have his own mindset about it. In his eyes, Bell sees the Second World War as being a thirty year war, driven by the ideology and economics of Germany, which was not preplanned by blueprint. He outlines this very clearly in the conclusion of his book, basing it on knowledge that he interlaid throughout. Bell begins this read by illustrating the theory of the thirty years war. This, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Hitler wasn t interested in conquering the mighty USSR from the start, he did for see an eventual war with her for her abundant resources16. Thus, the clash that the two countries had in 1941 was long coming, but not a surprise. Living space then, was a necessary objective in Hitler s eyes, but in order to achieve this space he needed to develop Germany s army first. So he did. Between 1933 and 1939 the Treaty of Versailles was secretly avoided to massively increase the size of the German army, from 100,000 to 300,00017. The Luftwaffe, German air force, also rapidly increased and by 1940 it was the strongest among all the European powers. The German war machine was impressive, in just six years it went from being the weakest army to one of the strongest18. However, this created a vicious circle in terms of foreign policy for Germany: Hitler wanted living space, so he built up the army. However, in order to pay for this rapid rearmament, he had to conquer territories. Thus, Hitler made war profitable and a key part of the foreign policy of Germany19. To sum up, Hitler s Germany lived on a balanced diet of economics and ideology. On the one hand, Hitler s ideology called for living space for his great Aryan race. However, on the other hand, economics were the backbone of building an army large enough to acquire it. This resulted in Hitler conquering many new lands for his cause. First there was ... Socrates states if there is anything beautiful besides the Beautiful itself, it is beautiful for no other reason than that it shares in that Beautiful (Phaedo 100c). From this statement, one can assume that Socrates believes in one true Beautiful, just as he believes in one true Good that are included in the one true Knowledge. To find true Knowledge the body and soul must be separated which can be inferred that true Knowledge and it s full understanding will only happen after death. Analysis Of Dirtwork In EuripidesThe Bacchae 3218 Dirtwork in Euripides The Bacchae The Bacchae represent the irrational aspects of religion, and this is neither simply reverent or irreverent toward religion. The play, The Bacchae can easily be interpreted as a cautionary tale about the dangers of neglecting worship or as a cautionary tale about the dangers of placing too much trust in human rationality. If the play s main intent was to describe the dangers of neglecting worship or to describe the dangers of relying heavily of human rationality, then Bacchae would not be portrayed negatively. I will argue that these interpretations, while true to some degree, are oversimplifications of the message that Euripides conveys, and that a stronger interpretation is that the play is commentary on the human struggle to harmonize our desire to individuate and our desire to unify. The play describes the conflict between Pentheus need to define boundaries and the Bacchae s desire to eliminate boundaries. Pentheus and the Bacchae show what occurs when one desire overpowers the other. The conflict between Pentheus and the Bacchae is an external representation of the internal conflict between the two needs, that we observe in characters like Pentheus. The Bacchae represent an irrational aspect of religion because they are portrayed as victims of groupthink. The Bacchae do not think for themselves, and reject the idea of thinking for themselves. He also ignores Kate Winslet s performance and the great job she did. One thing that I noticed he didn t get into very much was the sexual side of the film. I was glimpsing over a few other articles on the movie and a lot of reviewers made comments on how Depps character was impotent, and had a thing for little boys. And though the film flirts with the suggestion that Barrie s relationship with the boys may have had unsavory connotations, something that has been much speculated upon, the evidence seems to indicate that Barrie, an extremely short and unattractive fellow with none of the dapper attraction of the handsome Depp, was probably impotent, and that was the source of the dissatisfaction in his marriage. Terry Lawson, Detroit Free Press. I can see where this statement is coming from since they touch upon the subject in the film, but the director did a good job in making sure that Depp s character was not creepy, but yet like a child himself. And Depp plays the role with such innocence that you would never question the fact that the boys are simply his muses and he loves that family. It also has 4 pcs of super pulley with clamp and 4 pcs of mass hanger which weigh 5 grams each. There is a ring in the center of the force table that indicates if the forces are balance. We had fun in balancing the force table and computing for the resultant by using component method and polygon method. The experiment gave us a preparation on how to solve certain situation that may happen in our lives. V. EVALUATION 1. Why is it important for the ring to be at the center? Since the mass hangers have equal masses, can you disregard them in the experiment? Why? It is important for the ring to be at the center because it indicates if the forces are balance or not. You can t disregard the ring in the experiment because it will affect the resulting value if you will compute for the resultant of the force. 2. When a pull is applied on the ring and then released, why does it sometimes fail to return to the center? Sometimes the forces are close to equilibrium but are not exactly equal so a slight disturbance in the balance will cause significant effect. 3. What is the significance of the resultant of F1, F2, and F3 to the remaining force F4? What generalization can you make regarding their relationships? It will act as a force that will completely neutralize F4. The force F4 and the resultant of F1, F2, F3 are exactly opposite of each other. 4. If the order of adding vectors is changed (i.e. from F1 + F2 + F3 to F2 + F1 + F3) will the resultant be different? Why? No, because ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As time goes on history changes because of new discoveries that alter the way things have been and shed new light on what had been considered true. In Abina and the Important Men: A Graphic History historian Trevor Getz introduces a new voice into the story of British controlled West Africain the late nineteenth century. Getz and Liz Clarke, an illustrator, bring forth the story of Abina, a young West African woman, who was wrongfully enslaved and took her case to court. (Burke) This often proves to be true in Thomas Mofolo s novel Chaka. Power is a corruptive concept. If you do not have a genuinely selfless heart, you will become corrupted by your own power, which often happened to those of power in this novel. However, even though power is often seen as having influence over others, power can also be distinctly self centered. If the private cost of smoking to smokers is so high then why smoke? According to economic theory, if smokers are fully informed, rational and under no duress, it can be assumed that the benefits of smoking to them are at least equal to the costs which they themselves bear. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the results section, I am going to show the different measurement invariance models. In order to determine whether national political trust (NPT) and supranational political trust (SPT) can be regarded as two empirically distinct concepts, it is necessary to test a one factor model encompassing all five indicators against the proposed two factor model shown in Figure 1. When examining the MGCFA models, different methods of assessing goodness of fit is applied. First, the raw chi squared value for the model of interest is reported. However, it has been shown that inferences based on the raw chi squared values tend to favour problematic models when the sample size is small and reject sensible models when the sample size is large (Hooper et. al, 2008). In this case, where the sample size is almost 30,000, it is expected that an increase in model complexity will lead to a significant increase in chi squared value. Second, the Comparative Fit Index (CFI) is reported, where values above 0.95 is considered good model fit (Hu and Bentler, 1999). When comparing competing models, Chen (2007) suggests that a decrease in CFI of less than 0.01 is acceptable. Finally, the two absolute fit measures, namely the Root Mean Square Error of Approximation (RMSEA) and Standardized Root Mean Square Residual (SRMR) are used for model comparison. ... Through the years in which Ireland had a famine, many people migrated over to the United States in order to have a better life and gain some prosperity. When they arrived they were met with less than open arms, but rather a whole new world of discrimination. I will be discussing the summary I have done on the discrimination of Irish in America today, followed by my reactions, two other Irish blooded reactions, the history, identities, and transitions, of these people of which I learned through doing this research. II.Research Summary The readings on Irish immigrants in America led me to understand the racism and culture ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Not all the Irish drink and the stereotype is false in many cases pertaining to Irish Americans. Another value of the Irish is uncertainty avoidance, which concerns the degree to which people who feel threatened by ambiguous situations respond by avoiding them (Martin Nakayama, 2000, 70). This leads the Irish to prefer to reduce rules, accept dissent, and take risks (Martin Nakayama, 2000, 70). This can be supported by the massive immigration to the United States during the Potato Famine. Many Irish took to the seas during this period, and it was a great risk for so many to cross a sea and enter a world new to them, breaking away from the British power that controlled their lives. This emigration also demonstrates a sense of free will, which encompasses the need for change and to continue trying even if you fail. I noticed that the Irish are perceived as a group that works hard for what it wants and doesn t seem to give in to the norms of society. The new vision of Irish immigrants seems to be much healthier than that of previous generalizations. The action and doing value, which is entangled in the values, seems to be present in the lives of Irish immigrants, The young Irish coming over here today are much more sophisticated, more educated, and more ambitious (Krim Early, 1995, p.33). There is a definite sense of the contact hypothesis in the Santa Clara Valley, where cultures seem to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Volunteering At The Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home Essay Volunteering at the Mary Manning Walsh Nursing Home over the summer was an invaluable experience. As I became more comfortable, I began extending my duties beyond physical tasks such as serving food or transporting residents. I started interacting with the residents on a more personal level, not as a volunteer, but more as a friend. In return, the residents became increasingly open, and the nurses watched as I conversed with residents they had deemed as reserved. Sometimes when I helped residents they would say nothing, but at the same time they said everything I needed to hear. I probably appreciated helping those residents, more than they appreciated me. Every night when I went to bed, I felt I had actually made a difference. This volunteering experience allowed me to realize that whatever I do in life, I want to go to sleep feeling the same way I did that summer. In a world filled with problems, why be an observer? I approach life with this mentality and for that reason am enticed by the problem solving and critical thinking abilities that engineers possess. More specifically, I am drawn towards bioengineering due to the influence that this area of study has on the medical field, and on the overall quality of life and health for humans. While the study of medicine can provide the ability to treat individuals, bioengineering can have a more universal impact, providing the ability to treat thousands with innovative medical technology. According to the World Health Organization, cholera is a bacterial disease that originated in India in the 19th century, with seven pandemics spreading around the globe and killing millions of people.1 The current pandemic is still around, and cholera in present times is estimated to affect anywhere from 1.4 to 4.3 million children and adults every year.1 The disease is especially rampant during the rainy season, when the climate is wet and the bacteria spread easily.2 The bacteria strain Vibrio cholerae can culture itself in water, thus contaminating it and making the water dangerous to anyone who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can be as simple as obtaining the proper tools and medications to treat the portion of the community that has contracted cholera and making sure that they are cared for in a clean, hygienic area. Though cholera is indeed a dangerous and potentially deadly illness, the treatment for it is rather straightforward and basic. Patients that are affected simply need to replenish the water and nutrients that they lose when they are going through symptoms of cholera such as diarrhea and dehydration.7 This can be accomplished through the use of oral rehydration solutions, usually a mixture of salts and fluids.7 In serious cases where the cholera disease has caused severe dehydration, patients may need to have their fluids replaced intravenously.1,7 Another relatively simple option for treatment of cholera is antibiotic therapy involving tetracycline, which can cause the length of the illness to be reduced and then decrease the need for oral rehydration therapy.8 Essentially, it all comes down to the government taking affirmative action to go to the source of the problem and keep it from spreading. In developed and industrialized countries, cholera is nearly non existent and this is because there are high standard levels for clean water requirements and overall sanitation.4 The World Health Organization has implemented a Global Task Force on Cholera Control through which it attempts to monitor, control, and prevent future cases of cholera around the world.1 One of the best examples of successful elimination of cholera is the United States, where the last major outbreak of cholera occurred in 1911.9 Following the outbreak, the United States government implemented several public health policies that centered around stricter sanitation and hygiene practices and advancing water purification techniques in order to ... There are many techniques that advertisers use in the creation of advertisements in order to catch people s attention and spark their interest in a certain product. Advertising influences people using pictures, humor, and the psychological need for food. However, these are not always successful tactics for initiating interest in purchasing an item. An advertisement promoting Ore Ida tater tots is one example of a company who incorporated those various techniques, but in my opinion was not very successful. As each generation sought to further its own interests, rifts developed between the old and the new as their goals diverged. As a result, there would be significant opposition between the generations to an extent not seen before. The first of these struggles would occur between those of the Greatest Generation, also known as the G.I. Generation, commonly classified as those born prior to World War I, and the Baby Boomers, who were born after World War II. This would not be the last of its kind, though. Afterward the Boomers again came into conflict, this time with their successors, Generation X, also known as Thirteeners, the thirteenth generation of Americans to be born since the nation s founding. David Guterson s novel The Other is the autobiographical account of fictional Neil Countryman, a recently retired high school English teacher and aspiring writer who, in the frame of the story, is the true writer of this book; in his youth, Countryman had befriended the eccentric John William Barry, the precocious son of an affluent family. The stories that these societies told have been passed down for countless generations, and, in fact, are still well known today. The Book of Genesis and The Theogony are both written to describe the creation of man and the Earthand who took part in these creations. The differences between these creation stories directly reflect the cultures that they were raised from, thus reading these stories, the audience is able to get insight into the way people lived in these times and the structure of their society. The Book of Genesisand The Theogony were both written in order to detail the creation of the Earth and man, and while they are similar in those aspects, the many differences that are present in these stories offer a complex understanding of many cultural and societal differences between the Hebrews and the Greeks. Genesis and The Theogony both claim that the Earth started in a void, but both texts pursue completely different stories about how the world came to be after the fact (Genesis 1:2, Boardman 18). In Genesis, there is only one all powerful Godpresent, and this one God is responsible for the creation of both man and the Earth. Anything and everything modern like theaters and shopping malls were a long drive away and there was one high school that everyone went to. This was where my parents were from. We visited quite frequently and there was something unique about each visit. One visit, it was a gloomy day at my Grandma s house and we were isolated by the muddy and wet elements outside her walls. My brother and I were rotting with boredom and we did not hesitate to make it known to our grandma and uncle. Filled with frustration, my uncle quickly went to his room, came back out with an old VHS tape, turned off the lights, and popped the tape in; with an activity finally found for us to do, my grandma went to bed. I was filled with excitement, a cozy movie night at Grandma s seemed like the perfect thing to do on a rainy evening like this. My uncle reclined on the couch next to us and seemed to have smirk on his face. My excitement then turned to curiosity and with this I asked, What are we watching? My uncle replied with a grand smile on his face as he said, Texas Chainsaw Massacre. My blood immediately went cold. I was too in shock to protest, so I just sat on that couch and experienced the most terrifying hour and half of my life. Also since the sample size is sufficiently large, then it does not pose any problem with the normality (since np 5). b. In this case to get the correlational coefficient of the variable if it is ordinal, then I could use Spearman rank rho coefficient and if it is interval or ratio level I could use the Pearson product coefficient of correlation. In the end I can check if the correlation is statistically significant by using the t test for significant correlation coefficient. c. I can use here t test for dependent samples (because of the phrase before and after ), since the same group of sample will measured twice, before a treatment, and after a treatment. Of course, we need to check if all the assumptions are met, such as normality, equality of variance and randomness of samples. d. I can use here Chi square test of independence. The Golden Booklet Of The True Christian Life God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, therefore a predetermined path of righteousness or condemnation is contradictory to the core values of Christianity, as it eliminates the need for the will to be saved by Christ. This shows that God does not control our actions, in hopes that we live in accordance to him. In The Golden Booklet of the True Christian Life, author John Calvin explains that our actions do affect our relationship with God. He says, It is God s own glory that he cannot have anything to do with iniquity and uncleanness, (Calvin, 17). God would not be able to be with us if we lived a complete life of inconsideration to him that would be an uncleanly life. A Christian is called to be as much like Jesus as they possibly can. Jesus never made compromises, he didn t ever say I am the son of God so I can live how I want. For it is unlawful for you to make a compromise with God: to try to fulfill part of your duties and to omit others at your own pleasure, (Calvin, 22).
