Racism And Income Inequality In The United States
Racism and inequalities have existed, exists now, and will be here long after we are gone.
However, racism in this country has been diminished greatly, and though it will never be fully
eradicated, it is to the point where all races and ethnicities can achieve great things. All aspects of
life, such as income levels, success in the arts, and even college entrance are not beholden to
systemic racism. It is a person s own drive, personal life choices, and willingness to work hard that
determine their level of achievement. Of the many cultures in this country, some are more goal
driven and can better thrive in a capitalist society. Then there are some cultures that don t do so
well. So, even though racism does exist in the united states, it is not to the point where it grants
benefits to white people. There are many factors to income inequality in this country, not all of
which are connected to racism, but one s personal choices. The most prevalent factor that
contributes to income... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As it relates to the education system, cultural differences are a main factor for the disparities
among the races. Despite this, the Affirmative Action quota system was implemented in order to
promote diversity in places of higher education. Policy makers in this country have gone out of
their way to ensure that their illusion of an equal playing field exists. However, in the court case
Gratz v. Bollinger, the Supreme Court ruled that the University of Michigan s application was
riddled with racial discrimination against non minorities. Pew Researchers even found that of those
personally affected by Affirmative Action, including minorities and non minorities, 4% benefited
while 11% were hurt by its effects. The only beneficiaries were those of the black community while
Affirmative Action policies were most detrimental to white

Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
plan is to reduce the number of undocumented immigrants entering the United States for permanent
settlement (Fix, and Passel, 2013). The Act required additional resources to join the Border Patrol
Enforcement to control the movement of immigrants to the United States. Penalties were imposed
to employer s providing employment opportunities to the undocumented employees to discourage
illegal immigration. The Act required businesses, such as merchandise companies, hotels,
workshops, and general stores hiring undocumented individuals and legalizing the undocumented
population settling in the United States. Businesses who are noncompliant with this law result in
penalties, such as civil fines, criminal penalties, and prevention from government contracts. Court
orders require payments from back pay to the individual s involved in the discrimination. Courts
require employers to hire individuals involved in discrimination cases (Fix, Passel, 2013).
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 The American with Disabilities Act of 1990 is meant
for businesses that discriminate against qualified applicants from employment opportunity because
of a disability (United States Department of Labor, 2013). Disabilities include walking, talking,
hearing, seeing, and learning. The object of the law is to protect persons with disabilities by

Wildlife-Conservation and Importance(India)
Meaning of Conservation
Conservation is the act of using and protecting resources properly. Catching animals, throwing
garbage, and using and harnessing the different resources should all adhere to the proper way of
conservation.
Wildlife includes all non domesticated plants, animals and other organisms. Domesticating wild
plant and animal species for human benefit has occurred many times all over the planet, and has a
major impact on the environment, both positive and negative. Wildlife can be found in all
ecosystems. Deserts, rain forests, plains, and other areas including the most developed urban sites

Many processes associated human habitation of an area cause loss of this area and decrease the
carrying capacity of the land for that species.
Examples of habitat destruction include grazing of bush land by farmed animals, changes to natural
fire regimes, forest clearing for timber production and wetland draining for city expansion. Impact
of introduced species
The vast majority of species exposed to a new habitat do not reproduce successfully. Occasionally,
however, some populations do take hold and after a period of acclimation can increase in numbers
significantly, having destructive effects on many elements of the native environment. The Rattus
Rattus is native to India, but it has spread to almost everywhere in the world. This rat has directly
caused, or contributed to, the extinction of multiple wildlife species including a variety of birds,
plants and other small mammals. They re blamed for the incredible decline in seabirds on several
islands, including many Hawaiian species
Some introduced species (such as most of our food crops and pets) are beneficial. However, others
are very damaging. People have moved species around the world for millenia, sometimes by
accident, but often with considerable enthusiasm. English garden birds in New Zealand are merely
quaint curiosities introduced by settlers wanting the familiar species of their former homes. Some
introductions have been devastating

Johnson Township held all kinds of kids in one room even though they had different ages and

school and the kids actually had bible study once a day. Two teachers taught all the kids for each
subject. (List) Instead of the children switching classes, the teachers had to move rooms. The
kids ages ranged from 8 to 16. It did not even matter what their age, they could be in any grade.

The Human Body And Mind Essay
A Picture as I see it.
The human brain is an amazing phenomenon. It is arguably the most important organ in the human
body. True, the heart does pump blood through our veins to transport oxygen from our lungs to the
tissues in our body so we may live, but, without the core of our central nervous system (the Bain) to
regulate the heartbeat, breathing, sight, sensations, hearing and many other functions that our body
s perform every moment of our lives, we would die. Look at the brain as a computer motherboard, it
is programed to tell our body what to do when to do it through thought or instinct. In order for the
brain to tell our body s exactly how to react to a situation it first must know what is going on. This
is accomplished throughout the body by Sensation and Perception. To show how this process works
in the human body and mind, I will choose a painting that I have never seen before and describe
how my mind processes this information and relays it to the rest of my body to get either an
emotional or physical reaction. I will also describe how writing this paper has affected my
perception on critical thinking. First let us start by defining Sensation and Perception. Sensation is
the retrieval process of stimulus from the outside the human body (King, L.A. (2016). Experience
psychology. (3rd ed). New York: McGraw Hill). Perception as also defined by (King, L.A. (2016).
Experience psychology. (3rd ed.) says that this is the process that the brain uses to interpret all

A Survey Of Image Based Artistic Rendering Techniques
A survey of Image Based Artistic Rendering techniques
Introduction
Paintings have been known to capture the human imagination since the pre historic times. A skilled
artist can evoke a range of human emotions and can portray things like appearances, playing of light
in surfaces, mood etc. on the paper. Similarly, with the invention of photography in the 19th
century, the artists got a new medium for their expressiveness and simulated artistic diversity. The
field of non photorealistic rendering started off in the early nineties with the aim of using the power
of computer graphics and create an interface between the two fields. With the exponential rise in
computational power and the advances made in computer graphics, the field has ... Show more

Also, researchers increasingly sought to automate the process and enhance the sophistication of
stroke placement.
The work by Haeberli[2] enabled people to transform photographs into impressionist paintings
with minimal labor. The user clicked on a photo, and the underlying system automatically placed
the virtual strokes by using the color of the source image. They also added noise to results to
enhance the impressionist effect. However, the first automatic solution was a tool proposed by
Litwinowicz [3]. This is the paper which we review first in this report.
Processing Images and Video for an Impressionist Effect
This paper aims producing impressions of the original image, i.e. images that give a sense of an
original image without reproducing it. They happen to have a painterly feel to them and appear as
they have been hand painted. They produce painterly animation from video clips automatically after
the user specifies a few parameters to generate he first frame. After the user s preferences are taken
into account and he approves the first frame, the whole video segment is automatically produced
without further user intervention.
The biggest challenge in videos is to produce a temporally coherent style of animation which
avoids flicker and takes into account the movement of objects in the video. This paper was the first
one to use optical flow to compute the per pixel movement in images and use it to generate a
sequence which is

Music Literacy And Its Influence On Music
Although technique and natural talent are big factors in music performing, it is suggested that a
major skill needed for a developing music performer is the ability to sight read (Paul), which is an
important factor in acquiring and expanding music literacy (Gromko). However, music literacy is a
compositional ability that requires many different abilities (Gromko, Lehmann and Ericson).
In relation to studies on English literacy acquisition techniques, little research has been conducted
on music literacy. In what research has been done, it is shown that music literacy and sight reading
ability acquisition has not an exact pedagogical technique or theory (Hodges). Given this, a review
that examines the research of variables and predictors of sight reading abilities and music literacy
knowledge acquisition has yet to be done. The purpose of this review is to synthesize published
articles on the research of music literacy to help give a better perspective on the variables that
affect the acquisition of music reading skills. Experiments, a national survey, and general
observations were used in this review.
First, the techniques and observations that are used to teach music literacy to musicians will be
evaluated. Next, eye pattern movements that have been observed while reading music will be
reviewed. Lastly, variables that affect the acquisition of music literacy and the success of sight
reading will be introduced.
Teaching and Acquiring Music Literacy Over the years, many

Essay on Who Controls Macbeth s Mind
You may think that MacBeth is one hundred percent guilty and should receive a heavy punishment
for his actions. But, have you ever considered the possibility that he may not have been responsible
for them? Because he should not be held responsible for something he had no control over. I would
like to point out that it was the Weird Sisters who told him prophesies which he then believed. It
was his wife, Lady MacBeth, who pressured and convinced him to go through with the killings. And
tell me, would any sane person commit the amount of crimes that MacBeth has? He has a mental

When Lady MacBeth receives the letter from MacBeth telling her that he wants to kill Duncan,
she fears that he would not have the courage to go through with it (Shakespeare 31). She brings
out the worst in him and encourages him to kill King Duncan. She persuades him by constantly
telling him negative things to get MacBeth to believe that he is doing the right thing. Look like
th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t (Shakespeare 35). Lady MacBeth is the one who
tells MacBeth to be this vicious creature and makes him think that killing King Duncan is okay.
Because of Lady Macbeth s behavior, MacBeth was led to become a murderer. Macbeth should
not be held accountable for his actions since Lady MacBeth is the one who convinced him to
commit the crime that started his madness and turn him into a monster. And now, because the
Weird Sisters told him prophesies and Lady MacBeth turned MacBeth into a savage, he has
become mentally ill. His insanity starts even before he kills King Duncan. While on his way to
murder the King, he is convinced he sees a bloody dagger leading him up to Duncan s room
(Shakespeare 51). Obviously, there could not be a dagger hanging in front of him and actually
move by itself. This hallucination is just one example of how insane he is, and this is even before
he killed anyone. And MacBeth s insanity only gets worse at the feast. At the feast, MacBeth is

The Roller Coaster Of Roller Coasters
Since humans were created, we have always searched for some kind of thrill and excitement.
Once man was tired of playing with something as dangerous as fire, he decided to move on to
more dangerous things, thus, the roller coaster was born. From sliding down rocky mountains, to
the huge steel coasters we have today. Roller coasters have evolved, and will continue to evolve
alongside humans. The way roller coasters are made, the safety of the roller coasters and the
popularity of them are just a few things that make up the history of these magnificent gifts to man.
Coaster history has its ups, downs and loop di loops, all that bring us to where we are today.

The ride was constructed by LaMarcus A. Thompson and was the first Gravity Switchback Railway.
This particular coaster attracted many people and brought tons of business to Coney Island.
(Benson 2012. AceOnline.org). From here the roller coaster business only went up. By the 1920 s,
roller coasters were extremely popular. Nearly 2,000 coasters were built! Sadly, there are not
many, if any of these coasters still standing. According to the most recent census there are close to
750 coasters in the United States alone! There are around 4,500 total in the whole world (Johnson
2016.rcdb.com). The growth of roller coasters continue to expand as more resources become
available and inventors become more creative.
Back in the 1990s, roller coasters were primarily made out of wood with small bits of steel and
metals. Wood was much cheaper and easier to use.(Schaefer 2004 Roller Coasters). This put a
limit on how coasters could be designed so the majority of them around the united states were
extremely similar. The safety of rider s was not much of a concern back in those days. There were
many deaths back in the 1900 s simply because most of the coasters had faulty designs, safety, or
were improperly built. (McGill 2001. Ultimaterollercoasters.com), The amount of deaths that were
caused because of the negligence is exactly why roller coasters had to change to fit the times and
safety resources.
Today, the safety

Abnormal Psychology Labels
As humans we like to place labels on everything. In order to define, describe, or just to pin point
something out. The majority of us humans are guilty of using words such as normal , abnormal ,
crazy , psychotic , and dysfunctional to describe people we see behaving in a certain manner.
Behavior of an individual usually tends to be the main source from which these labels derive.
While placing these labels on various behaviors we forget some factors, which are culture, values,
and personal perspective. As a society we are so quick to judge, especially the American society.
As part of the American society we tend to be very quick to place a label on behaviors. For
example, in my undergraduate career I took a course called abnormal Psychology . The first day of
the course the instructor made it very clear that there was no such thing as normal , and abnormal .

On the other hand, I have to think about a few things. Why do we have the DSM 5, courses such
as abnormal psychology, and most importantly why do the terms normal and abnormal or health
and dysfunctional exists? All of these labels do not exist for any apparent, if they did not exists
as a previous instructor of mine said, or are challenging to label. Then the field of psychology
would be inexistent. A major part of the field is due to the mental disorders people have, which
have already been labeled. These disorders were labeled in order for clinicians, or professional to
do three things: place a label, find the structure of treatment, and treat the disorder. This system
here is the whole focus of the DSM in general. As for the course abnormal psychology that was
taken during my undergrad career, we touch bases on various brain disorders that were not normal
for the average mentally stable human. The terms abnormal , normal , health and dysfunction do
exist due to the previous reasons listed

What is Industrial Agriculture? Also known as Factory Farming, Industrial Agriculture is a modern
type of agriculture, which involves high inputs of money, eliminating jobs (as well as creating

The creature to whom he has given life now terrifies Victor and makes him regret his decision.
This raises the question: When does science go too far? Like Frankenstein s creation of life,
Factory Farms push the limits of science by attempting to control a set part of nature. Industrial
Agriculture exploits nature for profit which is much like Frankenstein s desire to create life from
dead matter; where the desire to gain is more important than the consequences. Farm animals are
similar to the Creature since they are mistreated for no reason other than being non human. By

Graduated License Program Advantages
A graduated license program would and has proven far more effective than raising the driving age
to eighteen would be. Teens shouldn t be immediately given the privilege of driving as soon as
they turn sixteen. There is no possible way a written test can fully prepare them for the
responsibilities and risks that come with driving. A program that gradually grants them that
privilege through hands on practice and adult supervision would help teens be less inexperienced
on the road. Age isn t the issue, it s lack of experience and carelessness. GDL is the blatantly
correct choice. I don t fully support either option, because even with a graduated license program,

Throughout the novel, we see him being apathetic towards the people of the society, his mother,

overwhelmed with any types of emotions. Although sometimes he does try to view the world as
others do, but maybe that is too late for him to do. Before his execution, the Chaplain comes to
try to make him believe in the faith, pray for forgiveness but he refuses how he refused the
magistrate. He does not think it is a necessary thing for him to do. He does not support the idea
of forcefully believing something. At the very end of the novel he says, For all to be
accomplished, for me to feel less lonely, all that remained to hope was that on the day of my
execution there should be a huge crowd of spectators and that they should greet me with howls
of execration (Camus, 75). The quote is said by Meursault as he feels that he deserves the
disdain of the society because he is different from others. Literary element tone is noticeable in

The Importance of United Cerebral Palsy s Assistance to Developmentally Disabled Adults and the
Health Care System as a Whole
Introduction
Children born today have a fifty fifty chance to live to be one hundred years old or more, and the
quality of their lives will be affected by the research and empirical data that is being generated by
organizations dedicated to helping developmentally disabled adults live more meaningful lives.
These programs also serve as a benchmark in the battle against cerebral palsy in general and
provide valuable best practice examples, thereby influencing the American health care system as a
whole. While the search for a cure continues, cerebral palsy represents a debilitating disease that
can adversely affect the ability of sufferers to provide for the basic needs of living, but with
appropriate treatment and care, many are able to accomplish far more than most observers might
believe in terms of their independence, productivity and integration with larger American society,
goals that are also legally mandated. To determine how these positive clinical outcomes are
possible, this paper provides a review of the relevant peer reviewed and scholarly literature
concerning the role of United Cerebral Palsy in delivering high quality care pursuant to the
Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act of 2000 as overseen by the U.S.
Department of Health and Human Services to determine the effect of this oversight on a

The Importance Of Happiness Is The Key To A Perfect Life
I once was told by my mother, happiness is the key to a perfect life . Throughout my life, I have
carried that statement in my heart. Those few words have taught me how valuable the little things
in life truly are. Some of the little things in life that allow me to be the happiest person I can be
are the following: My boyfriend Dominic, family, my dog Riley, and Netflix. Dominic brings out
my happinessby always makes sure I don t go a minute without smiling. If it wasn t for my family,
I wouldn t be where I am today and I m incredibly happy with how much they push me to be the
best I can be. When I m sad, my dog always knows how to cheer me up by licking my tears away or
she lays next to me and watches Netflix. Netflix makes me happy due to the fact that I don t have
to do anything but lay back and enjoy a funny movie or show with the people I love. These things
are what make my world go around every day.
Anytime that I am feeling stressed or down, Netflix cheers me up. Netflix allows me to sit back
and relax. Watching the tv provider, allows me to forget all my problems, and allows me to
watch other people have problems. Netflix to me is like a bottle of milk to a baby because its
calms me down, takes the stress away, and overall just makes me a happier person. The best part
about watching Netflix is when my dog Riley lays next to me to watch the other animals on the tv.
The best part of life, is owning an animal. Animals, such as dogs, are proven to help relieve stress

Universal Design Is A Principle Of Learning Essay
Universal design is a principle of learning that can easily find its roots in the historical examples
of physical accessibility. Deriving from the concept that when a spatial environment is
universally designed, it is designed to be accessible to any and all people of all abilities. In
todays world a spatial environment, the example of universal design is all around us. In daily
walks on university and college campuses students with disabilities have likely used the curb cuts
in sidewalks or the ramps that now accompany the stairs that lead to many campus buildings. Today
s society benefits from a universally designed environment. Universal design is about removing
barriers and creating balance. Universal design incorporated in an online learning environment takes
spatial elements that expands the learner s environment beyond physical accessibility to make
learning accessible for all. In short, the goal of making learning accessible to all is to remove
barriers, both obvious, and obscure barriers. Universal design is also a basic framework that shifts
from designing online learning environments and interactive lessons with potential barriers to
designing barrier free, instruction rich learning environments for all college students. The enriched
online learning environment is then designed around the possibility of meeting any enrolled
student s unique need. It is important to emphasize that universal design is a framework and not a
specified curriculum. With

According to Smeltzer and Bare (2000), smoking decreases blood flow to the extremities and

Mrs Birling changes dramatically in this section because as the inspector starts to question her, her
replies show that she is confident and proud: Yes, we ve done a great deal of useful work in
helping deserving cases. When the Inspector asks her about the name Eva used to approach the
charity, her reply to the Inspector shows she is certain that she is innocent: I think it was simply

prejudiced me against her case. At this point Mrs Birling could also fold her arms as she says
this and look very smug. By doing this, she can express the feeling that she is pleased with
herself and is not regretting her decision. However, as the Inspector begins to discuss her reasons
for refusing to help Eva, Mrs Birling chooses not to answer: I don t think we need to discuss it. I

The Death Is Not Fair
Death is not fair. Some see death as an enemy to defeat, others as a friend to welcome. Some die
young, others with long life expectancy. Some die quickly and violently, others slowly but
peacefully. Some die naturally without pain. Other, especially people with incurable illnesses,
such as cancer or AIDS, die by inches in great sufferings. Even though medical treatment and
palliative care are advancing at a fast speed, they are often not available or not effective enough
for those terminally ill patients. Besides devastating pain, what is the worst is losing control of one
s life and having to wait for deathin despair and indignity. As a result, an increasing number of
dying patients want more control over the timing and manner of their deaths and want to have the
option of a humane, peaceful death. A substantial majority of citizens believe that competent,
terminally ill patients should have the option of receiving medication that patients could self
administer to bring about a humane and peaceful death if pain and suffering become intolerable,
and a majority of physicians believe such patients should have this option (Tucker). Over the past
two decades, both professionals and citizens have shown a markedly favorable shift towards the
legalization of physician assisted suicide. Yet the translation of that endorsement into a feasible
legislation process has not followed that pace.
Terminal diseases affect people on a dramatic scale. Last year, 56,230 deaths occurred as a

The Origin And Significance Of Diversity Within The...
Discuss the origin and significance of diversity within and between species using examples from a
named Eukaryote taxonomic group of your choice.
Introduction Diversity within and between species depends on various evolutionary processes and
can be traced to some sort of genetically altering event, whether it be a mutation, physical isolation,
inbreeding depression etc. This essay seeks to analyze the origins and significance of diversity
within the taxonomic group of lagomorpha, analyzing the diversity both within and between species.
Origin of diversity within species
Inbreeding depression occurs when species inbreed to a point where the overall fitness of the
species decreases. Slate and Pemberton studied how inbreeding resulted in a reduced heterozygosity
affected the sperm of wild rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, across the United Kingdom; they
considered 112 individuals as well as populations (2006). The study found an important relationship:
with a reduced heterozygosity, the production of normal sperm was also reduced (Slate and
Pemberton, 2006). It is important to note; this relationship was found amongst individuals not
entire populations (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). The study examined a loci region known to cause
inbreeding depression for the data (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). Figure 1 Relationship between the
proportion of abnormal sperm and meant heterozygosity. Graph taken from Slate and Pemberton,

The Issue Of Today s Society
Seminar Paper (Entangled) Introduction There is no denying consumerism has become an
issue of today s society. People are consuming more than they ever have before. Because of it
material culture has become an increasing area of study. Material culture is described as the
relationship between people and their material things. People are owning more stuff which is
leading to major problems. The mass consumptions of these goods has a negative impact on the
planet. It takes lots of energy and resources to produce a product, thus takes a negative toll on the
planet. Rainforest are cut down, habits are destroyed, global warming increases, waste and toxic
gases have increased, animals are killed, and people are displaced. The people in marginalized
communities and third world countries are the ones that are affected the most. People are
employed in horrible conditions, and paid horrendous salaries by these huge corporations
profiting on the exploitation of these people, while profiting tremendously from the boom in
consumer goods. Not only have people of western societies but people around the world are
craving and desiring consumer goods. What is being consumed at an alarming rate is technology.
With the technological boom and technological advances at an alarming rate has led to people
purchasing such products. Because technology has become so globalize and so easy to acquire at

Mathematics Is That Of Pi ( О )
One of the oldest and most commonly known and used concepts in mathematics is that of Pi (ПЂ).
In the earliest of know human civilizations, people realized the importance of finding the exact
value of ПЂ for practical reasons. Even by todays standards, we still only need to know the exact
value of ПЂ to a few decimal place values, although that hasn t stopped mathematicians from
pursuing a more accurate representation for its value throughout time.
The earliest know approximations for the value of ПЂ have been identified on ancient clay tablets,
dated 1900 1650 BC, from the Babylonian civilization which states the value of ПЂ as (25/8) =
3.125 (4) and from the Egyptian civilization, from the Rhind Papyrus(1650BC), which
approximates the value of ПЂ to be (16/9)^2 = 3.1605. (4) Although these earliest of
approximations have been proven to be within 1 percent of todays actual know value, it marks the
point of obsession for mathematicians to find an exact value for ПЂ.
The next advancement in determining a more accurate value didn t occur for more than another
1000 years. Around 250 BC, the Greek mathematician Archimedes developed an approach using
circumscribed and inscribed polygons to prove that the value of pi to be between (223/71) ПЂ (22
/7) (3.1408 ПЂ 3.1429). (23) This geometrical approach was predominantly used by
mathematicians for the next 1000 years, were in 1630 an exact value of ПЂ was found to 39
decimal palaces. (12)

and Judaism has been read and re read for centuries. This verse shows that the Jews were
personally promised the land by their God. Though something else that truly stands out is that in
the original Hebrew Scriptures I have given is the single verb natati the significance of this
specific use is that it was written as I have given , as in past tense. This usage implies that this
land had been given to the Jews even earlier than this first encounter with Abraham. That single
verse isn t the only one sprouting evidence of their literal given right to the land. As written in
Pslam 122:3 5, Jerusalem built as a city that is bound firmly together, to which as the tribes go up,
as the tribes of the lord, as was decreed for Israel. These specific bible verses and many more all
pay as proof that the Holy Land has been rightfully belonging to Jews and those of Israel since
biblical times as promised by the almighty

Puritans In New England
The Puritans were a widespread and diverse group of people who took a stand in the 16th and
17th century in Europe. Their rise was directly related to the increased knowledge that that came to
the common people during the Enlightenment. As people learned to read and write, and as the bible
became more accessible to the commoners, many began to read the bible for themselves. The word
Puritanfirst came as a term for those who advocated more purity in the church. Under siege from
church and crown, it sent an offshoot in the 3rd and 4th decades of the seventeenth century to the
northern english colonies in the New World a migration that laid the foundation for the religious,
intellectual, and social order of New England. (history.com staff Delbanco)... Show more content on

The basic beliefs of Puritans were Unconditional Election, which meant God chose who would
be saved and who wouldn t. A person could not persuade to change God s choice, and being a
member of the Puritan church did not mean you would be saved. Limited Atonement, which
meant that Christ s atonement did not extend to everyone, only those who were chosen to be
saved by him. Only those whom God elected received the salvation benefits of God s salvation.
Irresistible Grace, Puritans believed that once chosen by God s grace, you cannot resist it. Being
chosen meant that a person had found the right path to salvation. Being choses internally meant
that God changed a person s heart. Finally, Perseverance of the Saints, which meant a person
elected by God s grace would never depart from the path of salvation. The person would have
complete power to understand the word of God, and would never turn towards evil. The person
would instead persevere towards salvation. (our everyday life.com) Th beliefs they had were very

Essay on Fidel Castro
Fidel Castro
The first journey for Christopher Columbus to the New World landed him in what we know as
present day Cuba. The Spaniards occupied the island because of the great location and marketable
importance that came about in the eighteenth century. Throughout time, Cubahas been under the
control of dominant countries, such as Spain and the United States. The colonization process has
been the consistent factor in Latin American countries, leaving the colonized without a sense of
nationality. Once a country, such as Cuba gains independence, the question is now what will we
do? Usually the first form of government the country tries to establish does not last long after the
colonization period. With all the problems ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The United States will not just sit back and let Spain destroy its new economic interest. The USS
MAINE was on maneuvers when it exploded in the Havana harbor. This infuriated President
McKinley, which led Congress to declare war on Spain. The Spaniards did not stand a chance
against the U.S. and granted Cuba independence in December of 1898. Cuba had now gained its
independence from Spain, but would remain under the control of the United States government.
The United States built roads, sewer systems, and schools so Cubans could be civilized . The
U.S. government leaders saw nothing contradictory in their presiding over Cuba s emergence as
an independent nation. (Smith p.265) The United States decided that Cuba could not govern itself
just yet, so the U.S. felt it necessary to incorporate the Platt Amendment. This gave the U.S. the
right to literally run the economy, veto international commitments, and intervene in domestic
politics of Cuba. Cuba s first president Tomas Estrada Palma, was like the sidekick to the United
States because he wanted Cuba to be annexed by the U.S. The Nationalist did not approve of
Yankee dominance and kept Jose Marti s dream alive. Palma won a second term by election fraud.
The election fraud led to a revolt, which forced the U.S. military to occupy the island for three years.

Vignettes
The Barn Animal Although she knew nothing about them, morgan was obsessed with horses.
Maybe she liked the way they looked majestically standing in the beating sun, or maybe she
loved playing with her plastic four legged barn animals which she knew nothing on how to tame
a live one. Whatever is was, she was eager to ride one. By the time she and I were ready, I took her
to my barn to ride a horse. Morgan had not a clue how to ride the four legged real barn animal.
She was very comfortable with pretending that she was the best competitor in the world with
her plastic barn animals. We stepped into the barn where you can see stall after stall of neutral
colored horses. My horse, Austin, was black, and a little undersized, and perfect for a beginner.
She couldn t wait any longer, so as soon she got on the horse, she told me It felt natural, she wasn

she coiled around the barn the wider her smile got. After a while she settled getting her own trainor.

Fast Food Nation Summary
Fast Food Nation: The Dark Side of the All American Meal, is categorized into two categories, The
American Way, that examines the inauguration of the Fast Food Nation within the background of
post World War II in America and Meat and Potatoes. These two categories evaluate the
industrialization of fast food, along with the dangers of consuming meat, the chemical flavoring of
food, the working conditions of the meat industry, the global background of fast food, and the
production of cattle. The book introduces the McDonald s brothers and Carl N. Karcher which
investigate their performance as developers in the fast food industry in California. This results to
the inspection of Walt Disney and Ray Kroc s intricate relationship on the rise to fame. All these

Eric Schlosser explains that the fast food industry advertises to the nation s young, using
marketing techniques devised by psychological consultants and kids focus groups. It fills
consumers stomachs with high fat, low nutrition foods and sodas that sport 8 10 teaspoons of
sugar each. Additionally, Eric Schlosser decides to make a stop in Colorado to scrutinize the
working conditions of fast food industry employees. Schlosser realizes that the fast food industry
is responsible for the wholesale exploitation of poor, uneducated, and for those who are the victims
of secret pricing by meat processors. Furthermore, Meat and Potatoes commences with the
examination of chemical ingredients that make the fast food consumed by many taste appetizing.
This information is followed by the struggles that an ordinary rancher faces in the field of
economy and agriculture. Schlosser is considered persuasive and provocative because he
denounces the meatpacking industry, which is considered a fatal job in America. Especially, due to
the way those cattle is slaughtered, raised and processed because it can provide Escherichia

Japanese Government Vs Canadian Government Essay
From monarchy to communism, passing by dictatorship, each country has a government of its own.
In the world, there are about 200 countries in total, meaning that there are some similarities and
differences in their specific government. If one was to pick out two different countries and compare
its types of leadership, one might get a different result than other. Ever heard this quote by Tom
Robbins, Our similarities bring us to a common ground; our differences allow us to be fascinated by
each other? Well, nothing could be of more truth then that quote when comparing two different
countries. This essay is a comparison between the Canadian governmentand the Japanese

Society’s Greatest Tragedy Essay
In 415 B.C.E., the Greek playwright Euripides created The Trojan Women, a play that is
arguably one of the best studies of the horrific aspects of war ever written. In her analysis of the
play, Professor C.A.E. Luschnig maintains, [Euripides] has made the Trojan War stand for every
war... For war is society s great tragedy: victory is an illusion (8). While the negative elements of
war portrayed by Euripidescan be found in all wars and even war s victors must suffer their
defeats, there is an even greater tragedy to society than war itself. War is but one result of the
inherent evil nature of men and women and that evil nature, not war, is society s greatest tragedy.
The Trojan women of the play were Hecuba, the wife of the late King of ... Show more content on

The Trojan Women begins with the gods discussing the punishment for the Greeks. Next, the Greek
herald, Talthybus, informs the dethroned Queen Hecuba of her fate and that of her daughter,
Kassandra. Hecuba grieves her lot, but her daughter has been gifted with the ability to see the future
and knows of the ultimate punishment of the Greek conquerors. Andromache arrives with her young
son, Astyanax, only to learn that she is to become a Greek concubine and that her son is to be
killed to prevent him from one day avenging his father s death and possibly rebuilding Troy.
Next, Helen arrives and learns that she has been awarded by the Greek army to her former
husband, Melelaos, who plans to have her killed. Helen attempts to defend herself, but finds no
sympathy from either the Greeks or the Trojans. The play ends with the burial of Astyanax, the
Trojan women being dragged to the Greek ships, and the final destruction of the city. Because of
Kassandra s prophecies, the audience knows that the Greek victors will, in the end, have no victory.
C.A.E. Luschnig is Professor of Classics at the University of Idaho and has written a number of
authoritative texts on the Greek classics (Curriculum Vitae). She maintains that Euripedes Trojan
Women has long been considered one of the greatest pieces of anti war propaganda ever written
(Luschnig 8). To properly evaluate her assertions that The Trojan Women s

Leading Change Is Never Easy
Leading change is never easy. Many individuals want to reach their goals fast, but the process of
change takes time. It needs patience, persistence and learning from mistakes (MarhГЎnkovГЎ,
2010). The centre for the aging needs a change in the activities that take place. Currently, the events
that are scheduled in the center are not serving the purpose they should. The members feel that they
do not personally associate with the events like bingo, trivia, and reading the newspaper. The
individuals needto have a sense of belonging, and the right activities will helpthem with their

There needs to be a variety of activities and not just the three that are currently being offered. The
range gives the members an array of activities to choose from, and they can go for one they love
and not just engage in an activity because it is the only one available. The staff members will have
an easier job because the patron will be occupied and happy with the new events, which means that
the staff is not so engrossed in what is happening with the patrons.
The theories of aging especially disengagement, modernization, and activity theories emphasize
on the importance of the social aspect in those who are aging (Charles, Carstensen, 2010). The
members have had to change their lives and have lost some roles they used to undertake
especially now that they are at the center. Provision of other social activities means that the
individuals can get a replacement for the roles they have lost by being away from their homes and
families (Jin, 2010). These activities will help establish a positive sense of self because they feel
useful, and it usually matters to them that they can still engage in such activities. The change will
ensure that the seniors are able to develop a positive self concept because they will feel useful. The
change will also help them develop a sense of belonging because they will be engaging in an
activity of their choice, which means it is something they love doing. They will also socialize with

Tuckman s 4 Stages Of Teaming Summary
A Summary of The Stages of Teaming by Alberto Ayala
Introduction
The text book Technical Communication Today by Richard Johnson Sheehan (2011) examines Dr.
Bruce Tuckman s Four Stages of Teaming. The text book lists the four stages of teaming and
describes each in detail. Johnson Sheehan (2011) used Dr. Tuckman s model to provide the reader
of the text book information on proper teaming strategies.
Summary
The four stages of teaming are listed which are forming, storming, norming and performing.
Forming is the first stage in the four stages of teaming and an important part (Johnson Sheehan,
2011, Pg. 45). Generally at this stage the team members begin to familiarize and exchange their
expectations. Forming is the stage where outlining the team s project and creating a plan to
execute it is made. The next stage is storming, which is the stage where the actual work on the
project will begin and challenges will surface. Team members will have to compromise and work
together to solve their issues, but if a team member is unproductive then letting them go may be the
best option. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Norming is the stage where the team begins to unify and begin to develop trust between each
other. Revising the work plan generally occurs at this stage and members of the team begin to
accept their roles and responsibilities that are demanded from them (Johnson Sheenan, 2001, Pg.
58). Performing is the last stage and is generally when team members are fully at ease which each
other and recognize the roles they are meant to do. Johnson Sheehan (2001) states on how the team
will begin to search for ways to improve the quality of their work and associates Dr. W. Edwards

The Era Of The Common Man
The Jacksonian period has been regarded as the era of the common man , this characterization only
holds true in regard to politics. Jackson s action in economic development was little different from
when this era began. His view towards reforms were threatening and unwanting.Jackson was
relentless in his strive for presidency. Jackson lost his first presidential run to John Quincy Adamsin
1824 despite having the popular and electoral votes. The Jacksonians (supporters of Jackson)
called this event the Corrupt Bargain due to Henry Clay support of Adams after he was out of
the race. Jackson won the following election in 1828, after a war of words were exchanged
between supporters of Jackson and Adams. The Jacksonians accused Adams of being wasteful
with money, while Adams supporters accused Jackson of being a murderer in the war of 1812
and called his wife a bigamist. These accusations got to Rachel and weeks later she passed.
Nonetheless, this was still a victory for the new Democratic Republicans against the National
Republicans. Politically, the age of Jackson was a triumph for the common man since politics
were more open. Before Jackson politics were only indulged in by aristocrats and elites; With
Jackson it was open to all white male citizens. It has also be noted that before Jackson came into
office that there was expansion in voting with Ohio and other new western states. These new
constitutions made older states conform to their laws due to the fear of losing

  • 2. Racism And Income Inequality In The United States Racism and inequalities have existed, exists now, and will be here long after we are gone. However, racism in this country has been diminished greatly, and though it will never be fully eradicated, it is to the point where all races and ethnicities can achieve great things. All aspects of life, such as income levels, success in the arts, and even college entrance are not beholden to systemic racism. It is a person s own drive, personal life choices, and willingness to work hard that determine their level of achievement. Of the many cultures in this country, some are more goal driven and can better thrive in a capitalist society. Then there are some cultures that don t do so well. So, even though racism does exist in the united states, it is not to the point where it grants benefits to white people. There are many factors to income inequality in this country, not all of which are connected to racism, but one s personal choices. The most prevalent factor that contributes to income... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As it relates to the education system, cultural differences are a main factor for the disparities among the races. Despite this, the Affirmative Action quota system was implemented in order to promote diversity in places of higher education. Policy makers in this country have gone out of their way to ensure that their illusion of an equal playing field exists. However, in the court case Gratz v. Bollinger, the Supreme Court ruled that the University of Michigan s application was riddled with racial discrimination against non minorities. Pew Researchers even found that of those personally affected by Affirmative Action, including minorities and non minorities, 4% benefited while 11% were hurt by its effects. The only beneficiaries were those of the black community while Affirmative Action policies were most detrimental to white ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples of habitat destruction include grazing of bush land by farmed animals, changes to natural fire regimes, forest clearing for timber production and wetland draining for city expansion. Impact of introduced species The vast majority of species exposed to a new habitat do not reproduce successfully. Occasionally, however, some populations do take hold and after a period of acclimation can increase in numbers significantly, having destructive effects on many elements of the native environment. The Rattus Rattus is native to India, but it has spread to almost everywhere in the world. This rat has directly caused, or contributed to, the extinction of multiple wildlife species including a variety of birds, plants and other small mammals. They re blamed for the incredible decline in seabirds on several islands, including many Hawaiian species Some introduced species (such as most of our food crops and pets) are beneficial. However, others are very damaging. People have moved species around the world for millenia, sometimes by accident, but often with considerable enthusiasm. English garden birds in New Zealand are merely quaint curiosities introduced by settlers wanting the familiar species of their former homes. Some introductions have been devastating ... • 8. The Human Body And Mind Essay A Picture as I see it. The human brain is an amazing phenomenon. It is arguably the most important organ in the human body. True, the heart does pump blood through our veins to transport oxygen from our lungs to the tissues in our body so we may live, but, without the core of our central nervous system (the Bain) to regulate the heartbeat, breathing, sight, sensations, hearing and many other functions that our body s perform every moment of our lives, we would die. Look at the brain as a computer motherboard, it is programed to tell our body what to do when to do it through thought or instinct. In order for the brain to tell our body s exactly how to react to a situation it first must know what is going on. This is accomplished throughout the body by Sensation and Perception. To show how this process works in the human body and mind, I will choose a painting that I have never seen before and describe how my mind processes this information and relays it to the rest of my body to get either an emotional or physical reaction. I will also describe how writing this paper has affected my perception on critical thinking. First let us start by defining Sensation and Perception. Sensation is the retrieval process of stimulus from the outside the human body (King, L.A. (2016). Experience psychology. (3rd ed). New York: McGraw Hill). Perception as also defined by (King, L.A. (2016). Experience psychology. (3rd ed.) says that this is the process that the brain uses to interpret all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Who are you? , she yelled afraid as she began to fade into consciousness the last thing she saw was a man with dreads, a red bandana, gold teeth, dark eyes, and two braids as a goatee. A Survey Of Image Based Artistic Rendering Techniques A survey of Image Based Artistic Rendering techniques Introduction Paintings have been known to capture the human imagination since the pre historic times. A skilled artist can evoke a range of human emotions and can portray things like appearances, playing of light in surfaces, mood etc. on the paper. Similarly, with the invention of photography in the 19th century, the artists got a new medium for their expressiveness and simulated artistic diversity. Also, researchers increasingly sought to automate the process and enhance the sophistication of stroke placement. The work by Haeberli[2] enabled people to transform photographs into impressionist paintings with minimal labor. The user clicked on a photo, and the underlying system automatically placed the virtual strokes by using the color of the source image. They also added noise to results to enhance the impressionist effect. However, the first automatic solution was a tool proposed by Litwinowicz [3]. This is the paper which we review first in this report. Processing Images and Video for an Impressionist Effect This paper aims producing impressions of the original image, i.e. images that give a sense of an original image without reproducing it. They happen to have a painterly feel to them and appear as they have been hand painted. They produce painterly animation from video clips automatically after the user specifies a few parameters to generate he first frame. After the user s preferences are taken into account and he approves the first frame, the whole video segment is automatically produced without further user intervention. The biggest challenge in videos is to produce a temporally coherent style of animation which avoids flicker and takes into account the movement of objects in the video. • 11. Music Literacy And Its Influence On Music Although technique and natural talent are big factors in music performing, it is suggested that a major skill needed for a developing music performer is the ability to sight read (Paul), which is an important factor in acquiring and expanding music literacy (Gromko). However, music literacy is a compositional ability that requires many different abilities (Gromko, Lehmann and Ericson). In relation to studies on English literacy acquisition techniques, little research has been conducted on music literacy. In what research has been done, it is shown that music literacy and sight reading ability acquisition has not an exact pedagogical technique or theory (Hodges). Given this, a review that examines the research of variables and predictors of sight reading abilities and music literacy knowledge acquisition has yet to be done. The purpose of this review is to synthesize published articles on the research of music literacy to help give a better perspective on the variables that affect the acquisition of music reading skills. Experiments, a national survey, and general observations were used in this review. First, the techniques and observations that are used to teach music literacy to musicians will be evaluated. Next, eye pattern movements that have been observed while reading music will be reviewed. Lastly, variables that affect the acquisition of music literacy and the success of sight reading will be introduced. Teaching and Acquiring Music Literacy Over the years, many ... But, have you ever considered the possibility that he may not have been responsible for them? Because he should not be held responsible for something he had no control over. I would like to point out that it was the Weird Sisters who told him prophesies which he then believed. It was his wife, Lady MacBeth, who pressured and convinced him to go through with the killings. And tell me, would any sane person commit the amount of crimes that MacBeth has? He has a mental condition that makes him go insane and start seeing things that are not actually there. When Lady MacBeth receives the letter from MacBeth telling her that he wants to kill Duncan, she fears that he would not have the courage to go through with it (Shakespeare 31). She brings out the worst in him and encourages him to kill King Duncan. She persuades him by constantly telling him negative things to get MacBeth to believe that he is doing the right thing. Look like th innocent flower, but be the serpent under t (Shakespeare 35). Lady MacBeth is the one who tells MacBeth to be this vicious creature and makes him think that killing King Duncan is okay. Because of Lady Macbeth s behavior, MacBeth was led to become a murderer. Macbeth should not be held accountable for his actions since Lady MacBeth is the one who convinced him to commit the crime that started his madness and turn him into a monster. And now, because the Weird Sisters told him prophesies and Lady MacBeth turned MacBeth into a savage, he has become mentally ill. His insanity starts even before he kills King Duncan. While on his way to murder the King, he is convinced he sees a bloody dagger leading him up to Duncan s room (Shakespeare 51). Obviously, there could not be a dagger hanging in front of him and actually move by itself. This hallucination is just one example of how insane he is, and this is even before he killed anyone. By the 1920 s, roller coasters were extremely popular. Nearly 2,000 coasters were built! Sadly, there are not many, if any of these coasters still standing. Back in the 1990s, roller coasters were primarily made out of wood with small bits of steel and metals. Wood was much cheaper and easier to use.(Schaefer 2004 Roller Coasters). This put a limit on how coasters could be designed so the majority of them around the united states were extremely similar. The safety of rider s was not much of a concern back in those days. There were many deaths back in the 1900 s simply because most of the coasters had faulty designs, safety, or were improperly built. (McGill 2001. The majority of us humans are guilty of using words such as normal , abnormal , crazy , psychotic , and dysfunctional to describe people we see behaving in a certain manner. Behavior of an individual usually tends to be the main source from which these labels derive. While placing these labels on various behaviors we forget some factors, which are culture, values, and personal perspective. As a society we are so quick to judge, especially the American society. When the Inspector asks her about the name Eva used to approach the charity, her reply to the Inspector shows she is certain that she is innocent: I think it was simply a piece of gross impertinence quite deliberate and naturally that was on of the things that prejudiced me against her case. At this point Mrs Birling could also fold her arms as she says this and look very smug. By doing this, she can express the feeling that she is pleased with herself and is not regretting her decision. However, as the Inspector begins to discuss her reasons for refusing to help Eva, Mrs Birling chooses not to answer: I don t think we need to discuss it. I would direct the actress to look hard at the Inspector and slightly raise her voice as if she was giving him an order. Further on when the Inspector suggests that Mrs Birling s committee should have helped Eva, she is stubborn and still insists that what she did was right: The girl asked for assistance. • 36. The Death Is Not Fair Death is not fair. Some see death as an enemy to defeat, others as a friend to welcome. Some die young, others with long life expectancy. Some die quickly and violently, others slowly but peacefully. Some die naturally without pain. Other, especially people with incurable illnesses, such as cancer or AIDS, die by inches in great sufferings. Even though medical treatment and palliative care are advancing at a fast speed, they are often not available or not effective enough for those terminally ill patients. Besides devastating pain, what is the worst is losing control of one s life and having to wait for deathin despair and indignity. As a result, an increasing number of dying patients want more control over the timing and manner of their deaths and want to have the option of a humane, peaceful death. A substantial majority of citizens believe that competent, terminally ill patients should have the option of receiving medication that patients could self administer to bring about a humane and peaceful death if pain and suffering become intolerable, and a majority of physicians believe such patients should have this option (Tucker). Over the past two decades, both professionals and citizens have shown a markedly favorable shift towards the legalization of physician assisted suicide. Yet the translation of that endorsement into a feasible legislation process has not followed that pace. Terminal diseases affect people on a dramatic scale. Last year, 56,230 deaths occurred as a ... Discuss the origin and significance of diversity within and between species using examples from a named Eukaryote taxonomic group of your choice. Introduction Diversity within and between species depends on various evolutionary processes and can be traced to some sort of genetically altering event, whether it be a mutation, physical isolation, inbreeding depression etc. This essay seeks to analyze the origins and significance of diversity within the taxonomic group of lagomorpha, analyzing the diversity both within and between species. Origin of diversity within species Inbreeding depression occurs when species inbreed to a point where the overall fitness of the species decreases. Slate and Pemberton studied how inbreeding resulted in a reduced heterozygosity affected the sperm of wild rabbits, Oryctolagus cuniculus, across the United Kingdom; they considered 112 individuals as well as populations (2006). The study found an important relationship: with a reduced heterozygosity, the production of normal sperm was also reduced (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). It is important to note; this relationship was found amongst individuals not entire populations (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). The study examined a loci region known to cause inbreeding depression for the data (Slate and Pemberton, 2006). People are consuming more than they ever have before. Because of it material culture has become an increasing area of study. Material culture is described as the relationship between people and their material things. People are owning more stuff which is leading to major problems. The mass consumptions of these goods has a negative impact on the planet. It takes lots of energy and resources to produce a product, thus takes a negative toll on the planet. • 39. Mathematics Is That Of Pi ( О ) One of the oldest and most commonly known and used concepts in mathematics is that of Pi (ПЂ). In the earliest of know human civilizations, people realized the importance of finding the exact value of ПЂ for practical reasons. Even by todays standards, we still only need to know the exact value of ПЂ to a few decimal place values, although that hasn t stopped mathematicians from pursuing a more accurate representation for its value throughout time. The earliest know approximations for the value of ПЂ have been identified on ancient clay tablets, dated 1900 1650 BC, from the Babylonian civilization which states the value of ПЂ as (25/8) = 3.125 (4) and from the Egyptian civilization, from the Rhind Papyrus(1650BC), which approximates the value of ПЂ to be (16/9)^2 = 3.1605. (4) Although these earliest of approximations have been proven to be within 1 percent of todays actual know value, it marks the point of obsession for mathematicians to find an exact value for ПЂ. The next advancement in determining a more accurate value didn t occur for more than another 1000 years. Around 250 BC, the Greek mathematician Archimedes developed an approach using circumscribed and inscribed polygons to prove that the value of pi to be between (223/71) ПЂ (22 /7) (3.1408 ПЂ 3.1429).
