How to Add SlideShare to your Facebook Pages
May 29, 03:51 am PST
Important Update: Some users have expressed confusion on not being able to “upload a SlideShare presentation to a Facebook page”. Just to clarify, it’s not possible to directly upload to a Facebook page. To show your presentations on a page, you need to first add the SlideShare app to a regular Facebook user account and add your Facebook page to this account. After this you need to assign yourself as the administrator/owner of this page. Once this is done, presentations from your SlideShare app will show on your Facebook page and remain in sync.
One of our most requested features on the newly launched Facebook App was the ability to add it to Facebook Pages. We are glad to announce that it is now possible to do just that. Just follow the steps below:
1. Make sure you add the SlideShare app to your profile first. Then, goto the SlideShare application’s profile page and click on “more” to display more options. Choose “Add to my Page”

2. A popup will show you a list of pages you currently own or administer. Choose the page you want to add SlideShare to. For this example, we’ll choose “Rockstars Cafe”

3. Goto your Facebook page and click on “Edit Page” as shown.

4. Under the list of Applications available on the page, you’ll see “SlideShare”. Click on the small pen icon next to it and choose “Edit”

5. You’ll be taken to the Pages settings section, which allows you to specify the SlideShare user who’s presentations will sync to the presentations showing on the Page. If you did not install the SlideShare app as mentioned in (1), you’ll be prompted to do so. If an administrator is already set for this page, you’ll be given the option to change the account. Non-administrators will not be allowed to access this section.

6. Once this is done, return to your Page and you’ll see the SlideShare app under the Boxes tab on your page. You can move it to your Wall tab if you want.

Your Facebook Page will stay in sync with the chosen page administrator’s account. Do share your Facebook page URL’s with us after adding the SlideShare app.
What’s new on the Slideshare-LinkedIn app
Jan 22, 12:54 am PST
The Slideshare-LinkedIn app now gives you the control to decide how many presentation thumbnails you want to show on your LinkedIn profile. You have the option to display 2, 3 or 4 thumbnails (the default setting is 2.)
You can also choose to show a complete presentation (using the SlideShare player) instead of presentation thumbnails on your LinkedIn profile. This is useful if you want to highlight a specific presentation (e.g. this could be your resume, portfolio, professional works etc) and make it viewable directly from your LinkedIn profile.
To change this:
1. Click on “Settings” in the SlideShare app.

2. Under “Profile settings”, use the dropdown to select the number of presentations to be displayed. Or, choose “Show player” to display a complete presentation.

New API call to retrieve Slideshow Information on Slideshare
Jun 24, 02:41 am PST
We have rolled out a new API call which retrieves metadata for any slideshow on Slideshare. By passing the slideshow ID or the Slideshare URL, the API call can return slideshow details such as
- The slideshow ID, Title, Description, Embed Code, doc (passed to player), Total number of slides
- Slideshow Language, Complete URL of the slideshow, User ID of Slideshow owner, Login of slideshow owner
- Comma separated list of Related slideshow id’s, URL of the slideshow’s thumbnail and the slideshow’s tags.
For complete details and documentation, visit the Developers Documentation page
We are hopeful that this new call will make it easier for developers to write better applications using the Slideshare API. We would love to hear your feedback about this new API call and suggestions about any new addition you would like to see on the API front.
Slideshare API Library in C#.NET
Apr 11, 01:35 am PST
We have just released a Slideshare API wrapper in C#.NET to make it easier for Microsoft .NET developers to build mashups using the Slideshare API. This also contains a sample code to illustrate the usage of the API library.
We are planning to release similar API wrappers for other languages like Ruby, VB.NET, Python etc. A PHP library is already available for download.
You can also use Slideshare’s content-rich RSS feed to make cool applications. Some sample mashups built by the community have been showcased at http://www.slideshare.net/developers and www.slidesharetoys.com.
To see your application listed on these pages, make a really cool app (using the API/RSS) and send us the URL.
