I found a few people this weekend asking about using SlideShare with PBwiki, and since this isn’t the first time it has come up, I thought making a blog post with some screenshots would be helpful. Any suggestions, hints, tips, etc are definitely welcome. You can comment at the end of this post and I’ll make a second, third or fourth post as needed. (Though if I end up making a bunch of posts about this, hopefully it is because of new features from SlideShare or PBwiki, and not my inability to explain this on the first try).
Moving onward. My example is on my newly created PBwiki and I will be using my Front Page, mainly because it is my only page. The process should be the same on other pages. You’ll see me pointing things out on the screen shots in the color orange.
This is my FrontPage, I click on edit to make changes.
On the edit tab, I make my changes and decide where my slideshow is going to go. In my example, I am using a placeholder, #SlideShow, for where I want my slideshow to go. It is underlined in orange in the picture. You can really use any bit of text as a placeholder. Remember that it will end up taking up more space than the single line of text.
Next go to you slideshow and copy the embed code. Below I am using the right-click on the mouse. You can also just use ctrl and C to copy.
Now go back to PBwiki. On the edit tab, click ‘Source’

Now ‘Source’ might look confusing. This is HTML, and it looks like English with jibberish scattered about. In ‘Source’ you want to find your placeholder, #slideshow is what I used.

Then highlight the placeholder and paste in your embed code where #slideshow used to be.

This is what it should look like. The ‘Source’ now looks even messier. (The embed code is big, long and funny looking). I’ve underlined the text that should go below my slideshow, it now is below all of the mess the embed code made.
