Contest voting over: Who will win?

Aug 18, 01:22 am PST

Just wanted to drop a quick note that the voting for the World’s Best Presentation Contest got over on the 14th of August as scheduled. This has been a gorgeous contest – 2561 entries with 22744 votes cast. We’ve had contestants from over 120 countries spread across 5 continents. And to think that the contest is going on while the Olympics are being held in China – it couldn’t have been better.

You’ll need to wait a few days more to know who the winners are. The entries are being examined, the votes are being counted and the judges have gotten together into their huddle… Lets see what their decision is going to be. Stay Tuned….

Any guesses who the winners are going to be – First, Second & Third prizes???? any takers ?

7 days are over, where are the results???

  2. Akash says:

I am not getting why the results are not being declared. Earlier it was said that results will be declared within a week of closure of voting.

    Please announce the results ASAP.

Really, it’s about time to announce the results.

In case of any objective delays, please, tell us when to expect the final results.

The results will be out as soon as possible, we’ve had to delay them a bit because we had to eliminate as much spam voting before the nominees were sent to the judges.

The judges are also very busy people and we’re lucky they’re taking some time out to take a look at the presentations.

    Thanks for your patience!

Dear Ashwan and the SlideShare team,

thanks for taking the time to eliminate the spam votes.

I find it very disturbing that there has been tampering with the votes especially in the last days prior to closing. I appreciate it very much that the SlideShare team has taken the time to make the voting as “clean” as possible. I think that is worth delaying the final judging.

Now to the presentations, I saw many great ones. Some of my favorites:

I really like “Thirst” because it talks on a subject that is very important and presents it in a visually stimulating way.

I was very impressed by “Footnotes”, it was a really cool presentation – my first thought: “Wow, this must’ve taken ages to do.” And the design is very clean – I like it!

“Me”, though a bit short, was also something that I liked, especially since I also work in the area of sustainability.

Though, I also hope that my presentation “Present!” does well :-) . Let’s wait and see :-) .

    Oliver

    Hi everyone,

The wait should be over tomorrow…. results are going to be announced on Tuesday

Sorry for keeping this waiting, but we have to ensure a fair verdict

Thanks Amit for a prompt reply, I understand the need to take care of all the fake voting…

I am very true to what I have said earlier that Slideshare did a great job by holding this competition. It doesn’t matter who wins this competition but the world became a better place because of this competition as we came to know many more beautiful souls around the world.

I have also seen very shocking voting patterns with some entries and once reported it too which had been taken care by slideshare team. After that good experience, I am sure that slideshare will not let anyone spoil the sportsman spirit.

I conveyed my hope that admin team will surely look into false voting pattern and I’m glad to see that you took care of that.

At last, all the best to all the participants and thanks guys for sharing wonderful designs. Thanks slideshare to give us such a platform.

    Hi,
I was also disturbed by the voting patterns I experienced on my slideset.

I think the option vote a slideset down makes “cheating” even more attractive. Not can one raise his own slideshare but also can lower everone else’s. I suggest to only have positive votes next time and no option to vote for oneself.
